RACE 1 MAIDEN PLATE 1000 M

TASHANNE and NEVER TRUMPED were both slow to begin… AUTUMN MOON raced greenly in the early stages… App. L. GREALY, rider of DOWLING COURT, lost his offside stirrup iron on jumping, was unable to regain it and was forced to kick off his nearside iron. As a result, GREALY was placed at a distinct disadvantage throughout.

RACE 2 CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1100 M

COBAR laid outwards throughout, hung out making the home turn, then hung out badly in the home straight, obliging its rider to stop riding and straighten his mount approaching the winning post.

RACE 3 CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1180 M

Stewards permitted App. D. LANGRIDGE to replace App. R. STEWART (injured) as the rider of YATTARNA… Stewards permitted B. CLARK to replace N. SOUQUET (overweight) as the rider of NATURAL TIME… N. SOUQUET was fined $100 under AR 120(b) (accepting a mount for which found overweight)… ROSE KOPELLA jumped awkwardly inwards onto KATHEY’S CLOUD… Shortly afterwards KATHEY’S CLOUD shifted inwards away from ROSE KOPELLA and tightened MIGHTY LADY, which had to be checked… Stewards warned App. M. MUNDAY (KATHEY’S CLOUD) that he was to make a greater effort to correct his mounts in similar circumstances… Passing the 600m DARRIZANA, which was racing greenly, hung outwards and tightened CASELLA onto SARI, resulting in both these horses being hampered and CASELLA having to be steadied.

RACE 4 CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1700 M

No Report.

RACE 5 CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1400 M

Linking up with the course proper at the 1200m, both QUITE EXPRESSIVE and FLASH ROBERT dipped in the going on a heavy section of the track.

RACE 6 OPEN HANDICAP 1400 M

A subsequent veterinary examination of FULL OF SPIRIT, which weakened badly from the 600m, revealed no apparent abnormality.

RACE 7 OPEN HANDICAP 1000 M

Stewards permitted App. D. LANGRIDGE to replace App. R. STEWART as the rider of OVERLANDER… Shortly after the start, BABY BEAR steadied when tightened between LITTLE PEARLER and HUNGER STRIKE, which both shifted ground.

SUMMARY:

Race 3 – Jockey N. SOUQUET – AR 120(b) – Accepting ride when overweight – Fined $100
Race 3 - App. M. MUNDAY – Warned to exercise more care when shifting ground.
