Race 1. CLASS ONE HANDICAP, 1200 METRES:

RUSTIKOV was slowly away, inclined to over-race in the early stages and near the 800 metres was checked when racing in restricted room inside NOOKTAB…..When questioned regarding the performance of TANNABAH LASS, App. W. PEARSON explained that his mount travelled reasonably well to the home turn, however was immediately under pressure on straightening and found little over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination of TANNABAH LASS revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer MR M. MacDONALD expressed disappointment in the performance however added that the mare had probably had enough this time in and would now be spelled.

Race 2. MAIDEN PLATE, 1400 METRES:

WRITTEN AUTHORITY was slowly away…..J. NISBET (MISS KOOYONG) explained that his mount felt awkward in its action throughout and was very disappointing. A post race veterinary examination of MISS KOOYONG revealed no apparent abnormalities other than a small laceration near the off hind pastern. Trainer MS M. RAE was requested to monitor the condition of MISS KOOYONG and to notify the stewards should any abnormalities become apparent in the days subsequent to the meeting……MRS B. JOSEPH advised stewards that PERT START which gave ground quickly in the straight would now be retired from racing.

Race 3. CLASS THREE HANDICAP, 1300 METRES:

HAY HARRY was slowly away.

Race 4. CLASS FOUR HANDICAP, 1100 METRES:

SPORTS WAY was slowly away.

Race 5. MAIDEN PLATE, 1000 METRES:

MOONSQUILL was reluctant to leave the enclosure causing a slight delay…..MOONSQUILL was slow to begin…..App. J. HENG was dislodged from MOONSQUILL on pulling up. Trainer MR G. BACKHOUSE was advised that in all the circumstances MOONSQUILL would be required to trial to the stewards satisfaction in an official barrier trial before racing again.
