Race 1 - Fillies & Mares Maiden Handicap - 1200 metres

QUEEN OF THE GROVE, which threw itself down prior to leaving the enclosure, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.....RED LEGACY was crowded on jumping between MICRANTHUM and DELISSA.....EYE FOR STYLE (J. INNES) was slowly away and shortly after the start was crowded when TRENDSETTING shifted in. J. INNES explained that EYE FOR STYLE hung in and was reluctant to race in the early stages and did not respond to his urgings at any stage. Trainer MR N. GARDNER was advised that a warning would be recorded against the filly.....MS B. COOPER (ALL GOLD) explained that her mount enjoyed a good trail behind the speed until straightening where she attempted to shift out around runners to secure a run after becoming momentarily held up, in preference to waiting for the cutaway rail. MS COOPER further explained that she was unable to obtain clear running and as a result ALL GOLD became badly held up from the 300 metres until after the 150 metres adding that the went to the line exceptionally well when clear over the concluding stages. These explanations were accepted in full.

Race 2 - Class 2 Handicap - 1200 metres

INFECTIOUS was crowded on jumping between JOE THE STIRRER and HOULAHAN which began awkwardly and shifted in.

Race 3 - Maiden Handicap - 1600 metres

DOMICK PRINCE was withdrawn on veterinary advice at 1.48pm after being kicked by another runner behind the barriers. All bets on DOMICK PRINCE were ordered to be refunded in full with all winning bets subject to deductions of 13c in the dollar win, and 12c place on the face value of the ticket.....LEGS ABLAZE and GOLD SHAMROCK were slowly away.....Near the 400 metres MIDST was accidentally struck across the head by the whip of J. MORRIS (AZAMALI).....J. GRISEDALE became dislodged from GOLD SHAMROCK after passing the winning post.....J. GRISEDALE was unhurt.

Race 4 - Class 4 Plate - 1600 metres

When questioned regarding the performance of AWELESS, J. GRISEDALE explained that his mount was in his opinion one paced and would have been better suited by a moore genuine speed in the early stages, however was slightly disappointed in its failure to run on in the straight. Trainer EB MURRAY expressed some disappointment in the performance, however was of the view AWELESS was a false favourite given its recent form, adding it was his intention to continue with the geldings preparation in similar races. A post race veterinary examination of AWELESS revealed no apparent abnormalities.....B. STANLEY (BARONCELLI) was fined $100 after proceeding past the scales area prior to being weighed in for this race (AR 144).

Race 5 - Maiden Handicap - 1000 metres

AGENT CARLOS and MAJESTIC CHIMES were slowly away.....SHAKE RATTLE ROLL raced wide throughout.....SPICE TRAIN hung out after the 600 metres.

Race 6 - Class 1 Handicap - 1400 metres

JIMBEEKRAK was slowly away.....When questioned regarding the performance of CYCLONE MOLLY, MS B COOPER explained that despite her urgings the mare tailed out mid-race and was unable to keep in touch before running on reasonably well in the straight. She added that CYCLONE MOLLY had performed similarly two starts back at Wyong however it had been anticipated the mare would be able to obtain a more forward position in today's race, and in her opinion the performance was below expectations. A post race veterinary examination of CYCLONE MOLLY revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer P. SUTHERLAND, who was not on course, will be questioned subsequent to the meeting and will be requested to notify stewards should any abnormalities become apparent with CYCLONE MOLLY.....Nearing the winning post, SEATTLE GLORY improved onto the heels of the winner, TERRIFIC TACTIC and was steadied.

Race 7 - Transitional Handicap - 1200 metres

BRAVE RUNNING reared and lost ground at the start.....Stewards questioned M. USHER relative to the performance of ZILLION in this race. It was established that ZILLION began awkwardly resulting in M. USHER losing his near side iron for a short distance in the early stages. M. USHER further explained that his mount hung in severely throughout the race particularly after the 600 metres placing him at a disadvantage and as a result the gelding was not fully tested at any stage. Trainer MS D. MARTIN explained that ZILLION was having its first start since transferring to her stable, however on occasions had been intractable in its track work and expressed disappointment in the geldings performance. In all the circumstances MS MARTIN was advised that ZILLION would be required to trial to the stewards satisfaction in an official barrier trial before being permitted to race again. A post race veterinary examination of ZILLION revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Race 8 - Entires & Geldings Maiden Handicap - 1200 metres

COOPER'S MAGIC and RIVER DAVO were slowly away.....Nearing the 800 metres NOMOLOS GOLD improved onto the heels of SIALIS and was checked.....Rounding the 800 metre turn DESERT SHAKER was hampered when SIALIS shifted out.....Near the 500 metres HORNBLOWER was steadied away from the heels of DESERT SHAKER.....Nearing the winning post LIGHT WORKOUT was steadied away from the heels of DESERT SHAKER which shifted out under pressure.
