Redoute's Brother Wins in Sydney

0807redouteschoice.jpg (18605 bytes)Redoute's Choice's full brother Platinum Scissors has scored an impressive win at his second start in Sydney today.

A member of the powerful Gai Waterhouse stable, Platinum Scissors is by the champion sire Danehill and out of the winning Canny Lad mare Shantha's Choice.

After settling back in the field in the Eastlakes Handicap (1600m), Jim Cassidy was able to click the colt up and he worked home stylishly for a comprehensive win.

On the line the Danehill colt held a significant advantage over the White Fuji, while the favourite Ikebana weakened to third after leading in the early stages.

On debut the colt finished sixth behind one of today's rivals Shigeru Ausie Star, but he had little luck and raced greenly. With natural improvement and today's extra journey the colt proved much too strong.

Platinum Scissors is the third named foal of Shantha's Choice. The colt has two full relations still to hit the track including a two-year-old who's been named Superior Sateen.

The mare's current yearling, a bay filly, has already been named. She will be known as Monsoon Wedding.

Shantha's Choice is currently in foal to the Kentucky Derby champion Fusaichi Pegasus, who's first Australian foals are being born this season.

Redoute's Choice, who's now standing at Arrowfield Stud for $33,000, was a four time Group One winner. He won the Blue Diamond Stakes, Manikato Stakes, Caulfield Guineas and CF Orr Stakes.

In all Redoute's Choice started ten times for five wins, one second and third thirds for earnings of $1,567,850. His first crop of yearlings will hit the sales scene next year.
