He added that on two occasions in the early part of the straight a run briefly appeared however Road To Dance was unable to sprint quickly enough to take advantage of that run and consequently he raced in restricted room in the straight and was unable to fully test the horse.

RACE 8: Carlton & United Breweries Plate Provincial Class 1 2000m:

Stewards considered an objection lodged by Mr G. Hall, Trainer of 3 rd place getter against Misfits (S. Pollard) being declared the winner of the race on grounds of alleged interference near the 100m. On the evidence it was found that inside the 100m Disarray was steadied and shifted in across the heels of Misfits which shifted out abruptly under pressure. As the Stewards believed that had the interference not occurred that Disarray would not have finished ahead of Misfits they dismissed the objection. S. Pollard was advised that in similar circumstances he must stop riding and straighten.

After making heavy contact with Misfits shortly after straightening, Dazzling Gold became unbalanced, shifted out and bumped King O’ The Rings.

When asked about the improved performance of Misfits, Trainer Ms Diane Poidevin-Laine explained at the horse’s most recent start at Nowra on 9 August the mare had settled back in the field as expected but that when the pace quickened in the middle stages Misfits was unable to quicken and got out of its ground before making ground in the straight. She added a better showing was anticipated today over the longer distance.
