RACE 2: KEMPSEY HEIGHTS BOWLING CLUB CLASS 3 HCP 1000M

Jockey T Phillips was fined the sum of $100 under AR120 (b) for accepting the ride on GAI SIMONE when found to be overweight. Jockey Phillips was then replaced by M Chapman. PRINCESS CHIMES stood flat footed when released, then jumped awkwardly losing considerable ground. Trainer J McGee could offer little excuse for PRINCESS CHIMES missing the start and subsequently a warning was placed on the barrier manners of PRINCESS CHIMES. Trainer J McGee was also instructed in future to ensure that the surcingle was more secure when the excess portion of the surcingle was not securely fastened and therefore was flapping beneath the mare. HURRICANE STROLLER reared when the field was released and lost some ground. SUMAGINE raced wide throughout. Approaching the 700m OUR ROSAMONDE became momentarily awkward on the heels of HURRICANE STROLLER and shifted outwards. A post race veterinary examination of PRINCESS CHIMES revealed a small clot of blood in the right nostril only, no further abnormalities.

RACE 3: AKUBRA CLASS 3 HCP 1900M

RACE 4: KEMPSEY HEIGHTS HOGAN CUP MAIDEN PLATE 1450M

HEAVENLY BEAST and CELTIC RAY were slow to begin. MACPOMP was momentarily crowded near the 400m when racing behind CHEEKY WALLY and to the inside of CASH ON LOAN and was steadied. Shortly after HEAVENLY BEAST was steadied when CHEEKY WALLY lost ground quickly and rolled in under pressure. Jockey M Lord, the rider of CHEEKY WALLY, was instructed to exercise more care in future when his mount was under pressure. Jockey T Phillips reported that CELTIC RAY travelled unkindly throughout and had a distinct disliking to the shifting surface of the track.

1ST: CELTIC RAY 2ND: EASTERN FOLLY 3RD: OFFICE GOSSIP

RACE 5: THE FOUNTAIN ON THE MOUNTAIN CLASS 2 HCP 1450M

ZANITY EXPRESS overraced during the early stages. MURRAY’S KINGDOM lay in nearing 1200m and again nearing the 600m, despite the efforts of its rider and crowded ALLNIGHTER which became unbalanced on the heels of ZANITY EXPRESS and was steadied. RED PEEKS was steadied from the heels of SURFING LADY approaching the 500m when SURFING LADY was under some pressure and losing ground. On straightening ALLNIGHTER slipped and became momentarily unbalanced. Stewards questioned jockey T Phillips over the performance of OUR BULLET and he stated that the gelding was totally unsuited to the shifting conditions of the track and was most disappointing on the day. Stewards also questioned jockey T Treichel over the performance of SMOKE AND MIRRORS and he stated that at no stage was the gelding comfortable in the going and had failed to run on over the final stages. He said that he began to make his run at the top of the straight where SMOKE AND MIRRORS was making good ground, but over the final stages SMOKE AND MIRRORS stopped quickly and compounded. A post race veterinary examination of SMOKE AND MIRRORS revealed no abnormalities. ONDINES ducked out sharply over the final stages resulting in jockey M Dolendo having to stop and straighten the mare.
