GENERAL

Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the reason Bluey’s Bullet fell after the 700 metres in Race 5, the Class Four Plate over 1200 metres at the ACT Racing Club’s meeting on Friday 16th August 2002.

Evidence was taken from riders P.Rowe (Bluey’s Bullet), P. Robl (Damah Lady), B. Clark (Prince Paree) and J. Whitney (Benmanang). J. Whitney pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding (AR137 (a)) in that after the 700 metres he did permit Benmanang to shift in when insufficiently clear of Bluey’s Bullet, resulting in Bluey’s Bullet clipping the heels of Benmanang and falling. Whitney’s license to ride in races was subsequently suspended for a period to commence on Tuesday 3rd September 2002 and to expire on Thursday 3rd October 2002 on which day he may ride.
