Waterhouse to Fight Shock Charge Upgrade

Representatives of high profile bookmaker Rob Waterhouse are set to fight on after his nine month suspension was sensationally altered to a disqualification at the "end" of the so-called "extravagant odds" saga in Sydney today.

Judge Barrie Thornley delivered his decision today after a saga which had been going for some months, but immediately after the result was handed down Waterhouse's legal team promised the case was far from over.

Judge Thornley dismissed the appeals from Waterhouse and the NSW TRB today, but in a major shock changed the bookmakers nine month suspension to a dsiqualification.

This will result in Waterhouse being banned from attending the track and will also require him to reapply for another bookmaking licence.

Paul Brereton SC, who is representing Waterhouse, told reporters the case was likely to end up the Supreme Court.

"We are considering our position now, but what I can say is you haven't heard the end of it," Brereton said.
