RACE – 1 – MAIDEN PLATE 1300 METRES

BANKERS MAGIC hung out rounding the 1000 metres turn. PHARMACY raced wide throughout.

RACE – 2 – CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1300 METRES

APP D GAY replaced J BECKER (overweight) as the rider of KOREELAH. J BECKER was subsequently fined $100 under AR 120(b). On leaving the barriers APP R SPOKES, rider of NORTYUKI, bumped his right foot on the side of the barriers, injuring his right small toe, placing him at some disadvantage throughout the race. When questioned into the reason D COLEMAN failed to ride FOWEY SPIRIT to the line in his usual manner, he said, approaching the 200 metres he expected the mare to race up between BIG CRUSH and KOREELAH, however, when he pushed forward, the mare failed to respond and had run its race. A post race vet examination of FOWEY SPIRIT revealed no abnormalities. Trainer J WILLIAMSON advised the mare was to be retired.

RACE – 3 – CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1250 METRES

SILVER TORTE was slow to begin, raced wide throughout and hung in in the straight. Shortly after the start MARSISSY and POWER GAMES were crowded and lost ground between BALLINA BEAUTY and POLARITY, both of which shifted ground.

RACE – 4 – BROADWATER CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1600 METRES

Post race vet examination of COMET WAY revealed the gelding bled from the right nostril. When questioned, J BECKER, rider of STELLAR ACE, said his mount never traveled and when he applied pressure failed to respond. A post race vet examination revealed no abnormalities. When questioned into the reason TOTOPOLY (APP D GAY) raced back in the field as opposed to her usual racing pattern, APP GAY said he was crowded shortly after the start and elected to ease back due to the big weight. He added TOTOPOLY never travelled well on the heavy track and was held up to the inside of SKY SURFER rounding the hometurn. Further in the straight when the gelding started to make ground, he had to check TOTOPOLY near the 100 metres, when he was crowded by ANOTHER SOUTHERN (APP M SPRIGGS), which shifted in. Trainer C CHAPMAN, representing J SHELTON, stated GAY was instructed to go forward and was surprised to see the gelding back in the field. A post race vet examination of TOTOPOLY revealed no abnormalities. APP GAY was advised, although there were some circumstances, he should ensure to make every effort to ride to instructions. APP SPRIGGS was severely reprimanded for the crowding near the 100 metres.

RACE – 5 – CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1900 METRES

AYROHO made the turn past the winning post awkwardly and shifted wide on the track.
