No Lonhro for Premiere

r6lonhro2.jpg (12423 bytes)Saturday's Group Two Premiere Stakes at Rosehill in Sydney has lost some of its gloss after the champion Lonhro was not among this morning's acceptances.

Lonhro's trainer John Hawkes will now be represented by the group winning filly Hosannah, who will carry the all cerise colours of Jack and Bob Ingham's Woodlands Stud Syndicate.

The Premiere now has a final field of nine headed by the evergreen middle distance performer Shogun Lodge.

Melbourne based heavyweight rider Patrick Payne is expecting a good run from the gelding who has drawn the inside barrier.

"He is going great," Payne said of the gelding he rode for the first time in a gallop between races last Saturday. "He felt terrific."

Justin Sheehan will ride the Graeme Rogerson trained Century Kid in the $141,200 event. The pair will jump from barrier three.

Meanwhile, Simon Marshall's comeback after a five year absence takes another step on Saturday when he rides in his first black type event. He will ride the Noel Mayfield-Smith trained Kaapgun in the Premiere.
