Walter Not Happy With Scratching

Guy Walter landed a Group One double last Saturday but on Wednesday wasn't happy with the decision to scratch one of his runners at Canterbury due to a skin infection.
Walter was informed by stewards that Straight Albert had to be scratched from the final race as two Racing NSW veterinarians were of the view an infectious skin disease was still active and posed a risk of being transferred to other runners.
Walter told stewards the horse had been treated for ringworm but was adamant it was "dead and non-infectious" when the horse was presented on track.
Dr Craig Suann and Dr Tim Crisp disagreed and the horse was withdrawn.
"If he's making me scratch over this, I can't believe it," Walter told stewards.
"I'm not happy, I cannot understand the decision."
The trainer was informed he would need to provide a clearance from his own vet which would then be passed on to stewards for their consideration before Straight Albert can return to the races.
