RACE 1 – NBN Central Coast Television Maiden Handicap (Div 1) 1200m

When it was established that Princess Reale had failed to be floated to the course, stewards ordered its withdrawal at 12.18pm. Trainer G Rogerson was fined $200 under AR 8(e). Misprint, Sunstroke and Mcnicoll were slow to begin. Approaching the home turn Poetic Troubador, which was hanging out, was steadied when tightened for room by Beata (D McLellan) which shifted in. D McLellan was reprimanded.

RACE 2 – Jupiters Keno Maiden Handicap (Div 2) 1200m

RACE 3 – Keno – The Game Class 2 Handicap 1100m

Centillate was slow to begin. Annunaki jumped awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 400m Speedy Spice was momentarily crowded by Spy’s Elcipse which was held up and shifted out. B York (Spy’s Eclipse) explained that the horse in its previous starts had been overracing in a forward position and at its most recent start it was the intention to ride it back in the field. He said today with the anticipated speed in the race he was instructed to settle Spy’s Eclipse back in the field. He said that the horse travelled well in this position but approaching and rounding the home turn was held up, however when able to be placed under pressure in the straight Spy’s Eclipse ran on well. A post race veterinary examination of Viator, which weakened over the concluding stages, revealed the filly to be displaying mild respiratory distress. Mr R Elliott, representing trainer G Rogerson, was advised that before Viator is permitted to race again a veterinary certificate of fitness, including the results of an endoscopic examination, must be produced.

RACE 4 – Lindemans Padthaway Chardonnay Class 4 Handicap 1350m

Sacra Clause was held up approaching the home turn. The club’s doctor advised that after riding in this race D McLellan needed to rehydrate and because of this he would be unable to make the weight to fulfil his engagements in races 7 and 8. A post race veterinary examination of Sin City, which performed poorly, did not reveal any obvious abnormalities.

RACE 5 – Lindemans Salinger Maiden Handicap 1350m

Near the 600m Master Splinter was checked off the heels of Adelong and shifted out. In the straight Jindalee Poppy and Stadium were unable to obtain clear running. When questioned B York (Monkey Puzzle) explained that he had to make plenty of use of the horse early to take up a forward position in accordance with his instructions. He said that Monkey Puzzle travelled fairly in the middle stages however over the last 500 metres the filly weakened noticeably. A post race veterinary examination of Monkey Puzzle did not reveal any obvious abnormalities. A post race veterinary examination of Dynamic Flyer revealed the filly to be displaying a case of the thumps.

RACE 6 – Sportsman Transitional Handicap 1600m

RACE 7 – Vinery Stud Mona Lisa Plate 1350m

On jumping Dark Blue shifted in and bumped Ocean Tide. Near the 1000m Gentle Genius, which was pulling hard, was steadied off the heels of Pourquoi. On straightening Onyx shifted out and tightened Alassany. Gentle Genius was held up for a run until passing the 150m. Sabre Gard, which was awkwardly placed on the heels of My Czech Chick near the 100m, shifted out and hampered Onyx. Near the 100m Dark Blue, which was giving ground, was steadied off the heels of Our Earth Star (J Cassidy) which was shifting in. J Cassidy was advised to exercise more care. J Cassidy (Our Earth Star) explained that approaching the home turn he was briefly held up and on straightening he elected to save ground and find runs through the field rather than shifting to the extreme outside. C Munce (Prude) explained that he had been instructed to ride the mare where it was comfortable. He said in the early stages when it became apparent that he was going to be unable to match the early pace he elected to allow Prude to settle mid field. He said he enjoyed a good run in the race following the eventual winner Coablo and in his opinion Prude made good ground in the run home.

RACE 8 –Lindemans Bin 65 Chardonnay Class 1 Handicap 1350m

Acting on veterinary advice that Al Khafra, which reared in its race day stall and struck its head, was unfit to start, stewards ordered its withdrawal at 5.01pm. Stewards subsequently ordered that all monies wagered on Al Khafra be refunded in full and with regard to betting with bookmakers all successful wagers made prior to 5.01pm be subject to the following deductions in the dollar on the face value of the ticket: win and traditional each way, 19 cents win and 16 cents place; quinellas 40 cents; doubles 19 cents. Mr Frown and Bayroof bumped on jumping result in Bayroof becoming unbalanced and crowding Hickory Snip and Template. Pinetti was slow to begin. Mr P Webster, trainer of Best Score, explained that this preparation he had hoped the colt would be competitive over longer races and for this reason he had increased the distance of pace work for Best Score in the last month. He said that today he had given J Sheehan the option if there was fast early pace to take a sit or alternatively go forward. He added that he was satisfied with Best Score’s off pace position and he expressed general satisfaction with the manner in which Best Score finished off the race. Mr P Webster wad that in future he must notify stewards of any change in riding tactics.
