Beaten Favourite Banned in Sydney

One of Sydney’s well backed favourites this afternoon has been banned for three months after suffering a bi-lateral bleeding attack.

The Gai Waterhouse trained El Snip was heavily backed in markets for today’s Corporate Express Handicap (1800m) on Randwick’s Kensington track but dropped out of the action just before the home turn.

Jockey Chris Munce was able to ease the gelding down and he finished off tailed off behind the eventual winner Midnight Carols.

A four-year-old gelding El Snip, as his name suggests is by the ill-fated Snippets and out of the Cerreto mare El Rello. Before today he had started on five occasions for two wins and a placing and stakes earnings of $11,800.
