Race 1. ENTIRES & GELDINGS CLASS 1 HANDICAP, 900 METRES:

MARNANNA began awkwardly… J NISBET (ABSOLUTELY RADIANT) explained that his mount, which raced wide throughout, commenced to lay in when under pressure in the straight and made abnormal breathing noises over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination of ABSOLUTELY RADIANT revealed some signs of respiratory distress however no other abnormalities were apparent. Stable representative MR G VELLA was advised that veterinary clearance including the results of an endoscopic examination would be required before ABSOLUTELY RADIANT would be permitted to race again… MARNANNA hung out after the 600 metres and near the 400 metres was checked across the heels of WILLIAM STYLE… RUSTIKOV had difficulty obtaining completely clear running in the early part of the straight…. A post race veterinary examination of WILLIAM STYLE which raced below expectations revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Race 2. FILLIES & MARES CLASS 1 HANDICAP, 900 METRES:

CONDESA raced ungenerously and lost ground shortly after the start… An inquiry into the reason COMEBACK LASS and DANCING REGARD fell near the 500 metres will be opened on a date to be fixed. As a result of the fall TIRATOMBA, LAURIE'S DAUGHTER and MAJESTIC CHIMES were severely hampered and CONDESA lost it's rider. J NISBET (COMEBACK LASS) and S PAWSEY (DANCING REGARD) were taken to hospital for observation. B STANLEY (CONDESA) suffered minor bruising and was stood down from his remaining engagements. The club's veterinary surgeon reported that COMEBACK LASS fractured it's near fore canon bone and was immediately euthanised.… App D LANGRIDGE (MARWIN DOWNS) dropped his whip near the 200 metres.

Race 3. FILLIES & MARES MAIDEN PLATE, 1100 METRES:

This race was rescheduled to start at 2:18pm ….. BELLSIE was withdrawn on veterinary advice at 2:18pm after being kicked by another runner prior to being loaded. All bets on BELLSIE were ordered to be refunded in full with all winning bets subject to deductions of 3 cents in the dollar for the win and 4 cents place on the face value of the ticket…… SUMMERHILL was slowly away …. Near the 600 metres SUMMERHILL struck the rail and shifted out across the heels of CANTILENA, was severely checked and lost considerable ground. Nearing the 300 metres CANTILENA was disappointed for a run between UNDERBIDDER and BONNIE VIEW which shifted in when awkwardly positioned on the heels of DUTEOUS. As a result CANTILENA became held up and only obtained clear running after the 200 metres.

Race 4. ENTIRES & GELDINGS MAIDEN PLATE, 1100 METRES:

This race was rescheduled to start at 2:55pm.

Race 5. CLASS 4 HANDICAP, 1000 METRES:

This race was rescheduled to start at 3:25pm…… RUSTIC KATE was inclined to lay in when under pressure in the straight.

Race 6. CLASS 1 PLATE 1600 METRES:

MY NOTE was checked shortly after the start when crowded between RAICHU and COLDAZZ… Near the 1200 metres HILLTOP LASS made contact with the rail and became unbalanced when racing in restricted room inside SEATTLE GLORY… MY NOTE was unable to obtain clear running at any stage in the straight and as a result went to the line without being fully tested. … A post race veterinary examination of QUITE EXPRESSIVE, which gave ground quickly in the straight, revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore leg. Stable representative MR G VELLA was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required for QUITE EXPRESSIVE before racing again.

Race 7. OWNERS CUP, 1460 METRES:

SWINDLER'S WAY and RED AND RACY were slow into stride.

Race 8. CLASS 2 HANDICAP, 1100 METRES:

HAY HARRY began awkwardly and lost ground…. Near the 450 metres RUSTIC CLOUD improved onto the heels of VILLEROY, blundered and lost ground.
