RACE TWO MAIDEN S/W - 12OO M

Shortly after the start KING KUDOS was tightened for room and had to be checked when SANCAY shifted in abruptly.

Near the 1000 metres CRITERIUM (NZ) had to be eased off the heels of FIDDLES which threw it’s head in the air after attempting to hang out and in so doing lost ground.

Rounding the turn near the 400 metres WORTHY BID and FIDDLES raced tightly and bumped on several occasions.

Near the 250 metres WORTHY BID was tightened for room by KING KUDOS which was taken in by SANCAY which when weakening rolled in for a number of strides. As a result WORTHY BID was checked severely and KING KUDOS was hampered. Whilst stewards did not hold D Coffey, rider of SANCAY fully responsible he was reprimanded and notified that in similar circumstances in future he would be expected to make a greater effort to keep his mount straight.

RACE FOUR CLASS D HCP - 16OO M

The clubs veterinary surgeon inspected TOTALLY SPELLBOUND prior to the event and reported that the gelding, which had struck it’s leg, was lame and unfit to start. Acting on this advise stewards ordered the withdrawal of TOTALLY SPELLBOUND at 12.35pm.

On jumping away FLASH LIGHTNING was tightened for room between ANNUAL LEAVE and KOSSI PRINCE both off which shifted ground.

Rounding the first turn KOSSI PRINCE had a tendency to lay out.

On jumping away MY WOODIE shifted out badly taking BYALAP out onto DROPS OF JUPITER (NZ) resulting in BYALAP being hampered and losing ground.

RACE EIGHT CLASS 4 HCP - 16OO M

On jumping away GERARD shifted out and took CLEOPATRA’S NEEDLE out onto GRANDWAY TREASURE. Also REAL SASSY was tightened for room between SHODIYM and GLENBOLT both of which shifted ground.

RACE TEN CLASS 2 HCP - 12OO M

After passing the 200 metres SINDICATO shifted out when struck with the whip. For the majority of the straight UMAHERO (T Perry) had a tendency to hang in and approaching the 100 metres took AN HONOR in. T Perry was notified that she must make a greater effort to keep her mount straight in future.

N Paine, rider of AN HONOR was found guilty of a charge of careless riding (AR137(a)). The careless riding being that at the entrance to the straight he permitted his mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear of SALAD thereby taking that gelding out onto VIZANI (NZ) and VIZANI (NZ) out onto UMAHERO. This resulted in SALAD having to be checked severely, VIZANI (NZ) being checked and UMAHERO being hampered. N Paine was suspended from tiding in races for a period to expire at midnight on Saturday 5 July 2003.

P Denton, rider of SINDICATO was found guilty of a charge of careless riding(AR137(a)). The careless riding being that near the 100 metres he permitted his mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear of WEST STREET resulting in WEST STREET having to be checked severely. P Denton was suspended from riding in raced for a period to expire at midnight on Saturday 5 July 2003.

Subsequent to the event the clubs veterinary surgeon inspected GALVESTON STORM which performed poorly and reported that he could find no apparent abnormality.

The clubs veterinary surgeon inspected SINDICATO subsequent to the event and reported that the gelding had a discharge from the nostrils.

RACE ELEVEN CLASS 6 HCP - 1OOO M

Rounding the first turn BE STRONG threw it’s head in the air and raced erratically losing ground as a consequence.

RACE TWELVE OPEN HCP - 17OO M

On jumping away ROMANZA and FLIGHT PATTERN were tightened for room between BOZEMAN and RAJA BOY both of which shifted ground.

The clubs veterinary surgeon inspected JEREMIAH BULLFROG subsequent to the event and reported that the gelding may have been sore in the hindquarters.

The clubs veterinary surgeon inspected ROMANZA subsequent to the event and reported that the gelding was lame in the off foreleg.
