AZARIS (S Leckey (a)) was unruly prior to the start being effected. Subsequent to the race the incorrect time for the race was displayed on the Semaphore Board.

CHIGWIDDEN was a late scratching by order of Stewards when unable to be loaded into the barrier stalls. Subsequent to the race Stewards made the following alterations to betting. A deductions of 7c for the win and 7c for the place on all successful wagers. Trainer of CHIGWIDDEN Mr A TRENGROVE was informed by Stewards that the gelding was now barred from racing and would have to pass 2 satisfactory barrier trials before being permitted to start again.

NT 3 3YO CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1400 METRES 7 STARTERS
MURPHY'S PRIZE (M Cullen) was slow to begin. At about the 100 metre mark SURRENDERS (B Huppatz) shifted outward resulting in EDGE TO EDGE (J Hallam (a)) having to be eased. Jockey B HUPPATZ, rider of SURRENDERS was reprimanded for the incident.

NT 5: CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1400 METRES 8 STARTERS
STRATEGIC FEELING was scratched on 4/4/03 at 7.30am on veterinary advice (vets certificate supplied). A veterinary certificate of soundness will be required by Stewards before being permitted to start again. MERITS (J Dittman) knuckled over as start effected bumping MR. CARDIN (NZ) (B Cornell). JAYASHARI (P Johnson) came into contact with the running rail at about the 1200 metre mark.

NT 7: OPEN HANDICAP 1500 METRES 8 STARTERS
PURE GOLD was a late scratching at 11.10am on veterinary advice. A veterinary certificate of soundness will be required before being permitted to start again. SOLARIO (M Cullen) was slow away. Subsequent to the race Jockey W ORBELL, rider of KALASHOW was charged by Stewards under ARR137a with Careless Riding. The careless riding being that he permitted his mount to shift inwards when not clear of COCUS (B Cornell) at the 350 metre mark resulting in COCUS (B Cornell) having to be checked. Jockey W ORBELL, rider of KALASHOW was found guilty of the charge and his licence to rider in races was suspended up to and including 19/4/03 (2 weeks). Jockey B CORNELL, rider of COCUS reported to Stewards that he thought the horse had gone amiss after entering the straight and he had eased COCUS down. On return to enclosure inspection revealed no abnormalities. Mrs C GREEN stated to Stewards that she intended for her stable vet to examine COCUS and she undertook to inform Stewards of any findings. Stewards will speak to Mr V OLDFIELD, trainer of PURE GOLD regarding the late scratching of the gelding.

Jockey M CULLEN, rider of THE PHARMACIST reported to Stewards that his mount had raced ungenerously in the final stages of the race and that he would recommend that the blinkers be removed from the horse.
