Mr K Lamprecht, trainer of ALDILAR was fined $50 for nominating that gelding for this event when ineligible.

Acting on advice from Mr B Merrall, stable foreman for trainer Mr R Merrall, as well as a medical certificate that D Coffey was unwell and unable to ride, stewards permitted the following rider changes;

Taking into account the lateness of the advice and there being no other rider available, stewards permitted L Schmidt to ride NOT TRICKS at 1kg overweight.   D Coffey will be required to produce a medical certificate stating he is fit to ride before being permitted to ride trackwork or in races.

At about the 200 metres BARRY moved in onto SANCAY.  S Leckey (a), rider of SANCAY stated that BARRY had a tendency to move in whenever he was struck with the whip.  Stewards took into account S Leckey (a) had taken all reasonable precautions to keep BARRY from inconveniencing SANCAY.

Stewards advised C Moon, rider of TITO that his use of the whip in the straight was bordering on excessive use.

RACE TWO        CLASS 2 HCP – 15OO M

When the gates opened ORIGIN WARRIOR was slow into stride.

At the 1200 metres ORIGIN WARRIOR had to be eased off the heels of ZAMBO (NZ) which shifted ground when racing tightly.

At the turn into the straight ZAMBO (NZ) had to be eased off the heels of SPECTOR.

RACE THREE  3YO CLASS B HCP – 11OO M

Mr K Lamprecht, trainer of RANKS was fined $30 for failing to lodge a stable return showing the correct nominators of that gelding (NT56).  Mr Lamprecht was also reminded of his obligation to obtain a clearance for RANKS which last raced interstate and to ensure that one is obtained before it races again.

When the gates opened CHILL FACTOR bounded in the air and raced greenly throughout the race.

Subsequent to the event the clubs veterinary surgeon reported that CRAFT CLUB had blood in one nostril.

Acting on veterinary advice stewards scratched CRAZY COTTON and QUEEN OF THE NORTH at 9.00am .

At the start GENERAL SWAMP shifted out and ARNSIDE shifted in resulting in AMBER STLE being tightened and having to be eased.

Stewards questioned Mrs E Brown stable foreman for trainer Mr S Brown and S Leckey (a), rider of FREEDOM FUNDS, which performed below expectations.  Both stated that FREEDOM FUNDS rarely finishes strongly when it is challenged at the start as was the case today.

At the start SHODIYM bounded in the air and A NEW SHILLING was slow into stride.  MR FROWN jumped out onto COVET’S GEM taking that mare wide.

RACE SIX OPEN HCP – 13OO M

At about the 450 metres ACELA had to be eased off the heels of CARL THE BULL which was weakening.

The clubs veterinary surgeon inspected RADICAL MOVER subsequent to the event and reported that the gelding was lame in the near fore leg.
