RACE TWO CLASS 5 HCP – 12OO M

When the starter effected the start of the race the gates of TOTAL RUSH (NZ) and SWAMP THING failed to open at the same time as the rest of the field. The starter then called a false start. Some of the riders, but not all, were aware that it was a false start and attempted to ease their mounts down.

After returning to the mounting yard all runners were inspected by the club’s veterinary surgeon. The club’s veterinary surgeon reported that in his opinion ACELA and MR FROWN, which had galloped a considerable distance, would not be fit to race within a short period. Stewards took into account the distance that the majority of the field had galloped and considering today’s weather conditions believed that it would not be advisable to expect those runners which had galloped some distance to race again today. Therefore acting under AR139 stewards declared the race void.
