RACE ONE CLASS D HCP – 1OOO M

Racing down the back straight STRAWIN overraced when being restrained.

P Denton, rider of GREAT EAGLE was found guilty of a charge of careless riding (AR137(a)). The careless riding being that near the 700 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of MERRY BEACH, thereby forcing that mare inwards and eventually having to be eased off GREAT EAGLES heels.

P Denton was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire at midnight on Saturday 14th September (2 meetings).

RACE THREE CLASS D HCP – 13OO M

When the gates opened HIT AND HOPE jumped away awkwardly.

Stewards questioned D Bates, rider of EL SUROSO which performed below expectations. D Bates stated that the horse blew considerably on pulling up which suggested that it may have been too fresh today. He also stated that he believed that the gelding normally raced further back in the field than it did today which also indicated it may have been too fresh.

The clubs veterinary surgeon inspected EL SUROSO subsequent to the event and reported that he could find no apparent abnormality. A urine sample was taken from EL SUROSO.
