CENTRESTAD withdrawn at 12.00 p.m. 28.2.03 vets certificate supplied. Trainer of CENTRESTAD advised that a vets certificate of soundness would be required before being permitted to start again. ILKARA (J Dittman) knuckled over as start effected. AYR RIDER (P Crich) rolled in slightly at about the 1200 metre mark and then was inclined to over race from that point. An Inquiry was opened into the reason MAISON BUSTE (NZ) nearly fell passing the winning post. The Inquiry was adjourned to a place and time to be advised to allow J DITTMAN who became indisposed to attend.

1ST ILKARA 2ND AYR RIDER 3RD MAISON BUSTE (NZ)

NT 2 CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1400 METRES 6 STARTERS

MR CARDIN was required to undergo a veterinary examination prior to the race when the trainer of the horse reported to Stewards that the gelding had suffered a slight leg injury at its previous start. MR CARDIN was passed fit to start. Jockey J DITTMAN rider of RACING ACES was struck in the face with a rock in the run. J DITTMAN was conveyed to hospital for x-rays. It was observed on return to scale that RACING ACES had cast a near hind plate.

NT 3 MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 METRES 6 STARTERS

Jockey W ORBELL replaced J DITTMAN as the rider of BEECEES after J DITTMAN became indisposed. REVOQUE STAR (M Cullen) struck the side of the stalls as start effected. PRISMATIC REEF B Huppatz) had to be eased slightly when CRUMBLE (G Lefoe) shifted in at about the 600 metre mark. Jockey G LEFOE rider of CRUMBLE was warned by Stewards and instructed that he must take greater care when shifting ground in future. CRUMBLE (G Lefoe) shifted in suddenly at about the 200 metre mark.

NT 4: CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1100 METRES 7 STARTERS

No race incidents.

NT 5: OPEN HANDICAP 1000 METRES 8 STARTERS

PRINCE ANTHONY (W Orbell) shifted outwards about 50 metres after the start forcing GO VINNIE GO onto COVER GAL (T Huish). STAR DAMSEL (D Lockwood (a)) ran off the track at about the 500 metre mark and then raced wide until straightening. Apprentice D LOCKWOOD reported to Stewards that from about the 800 metre mark the mare had shown signs of jarring up. Stewards ordered a veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities when hot. A further examination when the mare had cooled down revealed that she was suffering from moderate sola bruising in the near fore foot. A veterinary certificate of soundness will be required before the mare starts again.

Bookmakers Clerk K KLINGNER was fined the sum of $100 under ARR160(3) using mobile phone in restricted area in the vicinity of Scale Room.

Trainers M/s E WEHR, G CARIGE, R LEECH, K LAMPRECHT will be questioned by Stewards into the reason that their horses left the course before the designated time to do so after Race 5.
