RACE 1 – SMART CHOICE / SABIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE - 1050 metres

SUDDEN ALERT (J. Bowditch) jumped out at the start and bumped WRANGLE (B. Claridge), which in turn shifted out and bumped PARIS PUPPET (S. Price). As a result of the tightening WRANGLE lost some ground.

PARIS PUPPET (S. Price) showed a tendency to lay out on the home turn.

Over the concluding stages NIJINSKY PRINCE (J. Potter) shifted in and brushed the hindquarters of RORY’S TYPHOON (J. Holder), just prior to the winning post.

RACE 2 – GAWLER LANDSCAPING SUPPLIES CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1050 metres

LINDROS (M. Neilson) jumped out at the start, at the same time as LA PALOMA (B. Vale) jumped in, and as a result CHEVITA (G. O’Loughlin), which was between those two runners, was hampered and lost some ground.

In the vicinity of the 200 metres KOTARA (S. Price) and LINDROS (M. Neilson) brushed on a couple of occasions.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of KOTARA revealed the gelding returned lame in the near fore fetlock.

RACE 3 – SMOKE-FREE 4 YO & UP MAIDEN PLATE – 1200 metres

MEGADUN (C. Lindop) and SHORE LORD (D. Carney) were slow to begin.

In the vicinity of the 800 metres GUESS WHO (NZ) (M. McDonald) improved onto the heels of RED TRICK (A. Stead) and as a result had to be steadied momentarily.

In the vicinity of the 700 metres RED TRICK (A. Stead) had to be steadied from the heels of MADISON GARDENS (B. Claridge).

In the vicinity of the 300 metres SOVEREIGN ACCOUNT (N. Tomizawa), which had shown a tendency to lay out, shifted out and made heavy contact with the hindquarters of SMYTZER’S LEADER (S. Price) and as a result turned that gelding inwards to further tighten SOVEREIGN ACCOUNT. As a result, SMYTZER’S LEADER shifted in onto SOVEREIGN ACCOUNT, which in turn shifted in and made contact with MADISON GARDENS (B. Claridge), which had also shifted out slightly. No blame was attributed to any one rider.

RACE 4 – McDONALDS, GAWLER DISTANCE CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1950 metres

Correct Weight for this event was delayed to allow S. Price, rider of the 3rd Placegetter NASARA, to view the official head-on video of the finish. After doing so, in conjunction with Stewards, Correct Weight was duly declared.

RANGERINE (B. Vale) shifted in at the start and hampered COMO PRINCE (J. Holder) and as a result that gelding lost its position.

In the vicinity of the 1400 metres the saddle on CUDDLING (C. Bryant) slipped badly, placing that rider at a disadvantage throughout the running of the race, before eventually being eased up approaching the finish line.

In the vicinity of the 1100 metres CUDDLING (C. Bryant) shifted out abruptly, resulting in KENTON KNIGHT (C. Lindop) being hampered and shifting out sharply, hampering MISS DANGER (W. Kerford), which in turn shifted out and brushed NASARA (S. Price).

In the vicinity of the 1100 metres ESPRIT DE JEUNE (M. Hoppo) shifted in momentarily and briefly tightened TAIPAN ANNIE (Darren Holland), which over re-acted to the incident and blundered, resulting in the filly losing some ground. M. Hoppo was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.

Over the concluding stages COMO PRINCE (J. Holder) shifted in, resulting in NASARA (S. Price) being inconvenienced and in consequence changed course slightly just prior to the finish line.

RACE 5 – BUNYIP PRINT CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1200 metres

SLY SLATE (NZ) (C. Buchiw) was slow to begin.

RACE 6 – L R & M CONSTRUCTIONS CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1200 metres

ACT SURE (M. Hoppo) was slow to begin.

In the vicinity of the 600 metres ACT SURE (M. Hoppo) commenced to race fiercely and shifted into a position between MOVED (T. Creek) and LIGHTRIDGE (A. Stead). As a result, LIGHTRIDGE became tightened for room and in consequence lost some ground.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of MOVED revealed no visible abnormalities.

RACE 7 – JIM EASOM CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1400 metres

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of MISS NALA revealed no visible abnormalities.

RACE 8 – THE AIRCONDITIONING PEOPLE MAIDEN PLATE – 1600 metres

SKYCOUP (G. O’Loughlin) was slow into stride.

In the vicinity of the 900 metres MARCH IN STYLE (M. McDonald) became unbalanced for a short distance when racing on the inside of WESTERN MAIN (B. Grimston)

BILLSCAY (C. Lindop) was disappointed for a run between the 300 metres and the 100 metres.

MARCH IN STYLE (M. McDonald) and DREAMS MAY COME (B. Claridge) bumped in the vicinity of the 200 metres and bumped again approaching the finish line.

Following the race A. Stead became dislodged from ROYAL BANNER and as a result suffered an injury to his left wrist.

Subsequent to the event a Veterinary examination of DREAMS MAY COME revealed the gelding had quartered its off fore heel.
