RACE 1 – EL MOXIE HANDICAP 1454metres

DOT’S BLUEBIRD stood flat-footed when the gates were released and lost some ground.

Racing to 1000 metres MR SCANDAL’US (B Vale) eased to avoid the heels of POWER TO RULE (Darren Holland) and shifted out making contact with QUANTUM LEAP (M Hoppo) taking that filly wider.

Approaching the 50 metres BLUEWIN (P Gatt), when attempting a run between NADEN (J Holder) on the inside and CLAY MAN (J O’Loughlin) on its outside, was tightened for room due to CLAY MAN shifting in slightly and as a result BLUEWIN (P Gatt) made contact with NADEN (J Holder), which in turn laid out resulting in contact being made between BLUEWIN and CLAY MAN. J Holder, rider of NADEN, explained to the Stewards that he had intended to ride the gelding from behind but from its wide barrier it had commenced to over race in the early stages of the race and he had elected to take up the front running. J Holder further stated that as a result of NADEN over racing in the early stages it weakened over the final 50 metres of the race.

P Gatt, rider of BLUEWIN advised Stewards that the saddle slipped at approximately the 400 metres and again after the finishing line resulting in P Gatt dismounting from BLUEWIN.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of QUANTUM LEAP revealed no visible abnormalities.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of KOODA SAN revealed that colt was suffering from lameness in its off fore leg.

Subsequent to the race the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon reported that NADEN was making an unusual respiratory noise on return to scale. Miss K Oyarzun representing trainer Mr L Macdonald was advised to notify the Stewards of any abnormality.

RACE 2 – SNAADEE HANDICAP 1000 metres

UPMARKET STAR (D Carney) jumped away awkwardly.

STACKAWAY (S Price) was slow to begin.

BENACHI (N Tomizawa) laid in under pressure over the final 50 metres of the race.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of KOOLTRICE revealed that filly was suffering from shin soreness.

RACE 3 – MONDE BLEU HANDICAP 1254 metres

When the gates were released TAIPAN ANNIE (Darren Holland) jumped inwards hampering NISHIKAWA (S Price) and shortly after this incident TAIPAN ANNIE (Darren Holland) continued to shift in away from WANNA PLAY CHICKEN (N Tomizawa) and as a result made contact with NISHIKAWA (S Price), which in turn bumped HAPPY RAJA (B Vale). S Price, rider of NISHIKAWA advised the Stewards that after this incident the filly was very reluctant to race inside TAIPAN ANNIE (Darren Holland) for some distance.

N Tomizawa, rider of WANNA PLAY CHICKEN dropped his whip about the 300 metres was advised that a repetition could lead to action being taken against him.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of NISHIKAWA revealed that the filly had scalped both hind pasterns and had a lower than normal heart rate.

Subsequent to the race S Price was inspected by the Club’s Doctor and relieved from his further engagements for the day.

RACE 4 – TWINING HANDICAP 1806 metres

HAGGLE (C Lindop) jumped away awkwardly.

Racing to the 1400 metres, BAITENHAUSEN (J Bowditch) shifted in and as a result SWANLEY (K Louca) had to be eased.

Racing to the 500 metres OUTSIDE THE SQUARE (M Hoppo) had to be eased due to DINKY BARRY (T Creek) rolling out. OUTSIDE THE SQUARE was disappointed for a run for some distance to the 400 metres when racing behind DINKY BARRY.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of ZIP EXPULSION revealed that gelding was suffering from muscular tying up.

RACE 5 – HIGH ROLLING HANDICAP 1254 metres

SQUILLANI (J Bowditch) jumped away awkwardly.

On return to scale KURT had some blood in its mouth.

RACE 6 – RUSTIC AMBER HANDICAP 1304 metres

Racing to the 500 metres CARLIN (M Neilson) and WALAMA (NZ) (C Buchiw) bumped when racing tightly and shortly after this incident CARLIN (M Neilson) had to be eased to avoid the heels of LATTE (M Hoppo) when that mare shifted out. M Hoppo was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

RACE 7 – PRIDE AND GLORY HANDICAP 1454 metres

FIREBALL (N Tomizawa) reared when the gates were released.

KURTRAY (J Maund) shifted out and hampered SOLDADO (M Hoppo).

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary inspection of RICH THEME revealed that gelding had injured its near fore flexor tendon and trainer Mr M J Whittle was advised that a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness must be produced before that gelding is accepted for a race.

RACE 8 – JEUNE HANDICAP 1000 metres

On jumping away QUEEN MIDAS (M Neilson) shifted out and inconvenienced BOOGIE KNIGHT (T Creek).

Racing to the 800 metres LOS TORNEROS (Darren Holland) shifted in and as a result QUICK GAME (B Claridge) had to be eased. Darren Holland was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Approaching the 200 metres CLASSIC STATUS (J Holder) was held up for a run behind QUEEN MIDAS (M Neilson).

Racing to the 200 metres ENFOLD (W Kerford) brushed QUICK GAME (B Claridge).
