Katsidis Shipped in For Balaklava Cup

Leading Queensland jockey Stathi Katsidis will ride for the first time in South Australia on Wednesday when he teams up with powerful trainer Tony McEvoy in Wednesday's listed Balaklava Cup.

Katsidis has picked up rides in six of the eight races on Wednesday, all for the ever powerful Lindsay Park stables.

The talented hoop will partner the last start city race runner-up McBeal in the feature event, the listed $71,000 Price's Bakery/Malaysia Airlines Balaklava Cup (1600m).

McBeal, who is being aimed toward the Group One Caulfield Cup, has drawn barrier 14 in the field of 16.

As usual the Balaklava Cup has attracted a top class field including proven performers Border Time, Inkamulla, Old Man, Oliver Beer, Currency Rep, None For The Road, Questamatic, Aviate, Terminus Prince and the lightweight hope from Lindsay Park, Mustaagel.

The Cup will be run at 3.20pm (local time), with the first of eight races jumping at 12.22pm (12.52pm EST).
