RACE 1 – P & R CHAPMAN MAIDEN PLATE – 1600 metres

STELAW (K. Louca) jumped away awkwardly and brushed DEAMS MAY COME (B. Claridge), which shifted out and bumped AGUTI (W. Kerford).

In the vicinity of the 1400 metres MELODY MAGIC (J. Potter) shifted in and hampered STELAW (K. Louca). J. Potter was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground in future.

STELAW (K. Louca) over-raced in the middle stages.

RACE 2 – ARGYLE TRANSPORTS MAIDEN PLATE (1st Division) – 1200 metres

B. Vale replaced D. Carney as the rider of DEVARIVA, due to that rider being overweight. D. Carney was subsequently fined $100 under ARR 120(b) and advised that future infringements may result in a heavier penalty.

CLEARING OUT (M. Hoppo) was slow away.

RACE 3 – SNEATHS TRANSPORT MAIDEN PLATE (2nd Division) – 1200 metres

I’LL HAVE FUN proved difficult to load. Trainer Mr. S. G. Padman was advised that a warning had been placed on the mare and a repetition of its behaviour may lead to action being taken against it.

BIDDYUP (D. Carney) jumped away awkwardly.

IWO JIMA (D. Tootell) was slow to begin and raced very greenly throughout. Mr. A. Muhlethaler, Trainer of IWO JIMA, was advised the mare must complete a Barrier Trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before accepting for any future event.

I’LL HAVE FUN (J. Bowditch) jumped out onto FEELING HIGH (NZ) (J. Holder), which in turn shifted out and bumped ENVIRONS (Darren Holland).

BIDDUP (D. Carney) shied at the finish post and shifted out quickly, causing ENVIRONS (Darren Holland) to be checked.

RACE 4 – PATERSON BULK TRANSPORT / SABIS THREE-YEAR-OLD CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1400 metres

AWAKENING was a late scratching by Stewards at 1 p.m., acting on Veterinary advice after the horse was injured en route to the course.

NANCY ELEANOR (J. Bowditch) jumped out onto KOODA POLO (B. Claridge), which in turn shifted out onto UMACALL (D. Carney).

In the vicinity of the 200 metres NANCY ELEANOR (J. Bowditch) shifted in onto PINE’S PARADE (S. Price), which in turn shifted in onto CRYSTALLION (C. Bryant). At the same time FIERY PROSPECTOR (D. Cleaver) commenced to weaken and as a result CRYSTALLION had to be checked from the heels of that gelding. CRYSTALLION was then held up for a clear run behind FIERY PROSPECTOR for the remainder of the race.

UMACALL sprung its off fore plate during running.

RACE 5 – O’HARA TRANSPORT CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1600 metres

There was a slight delay at the start when BRUEGHELDANCER had its tongue tie replaced in the barriers.

There was a further delay when CROSS ME NOT continually laid on the side of the barriers.

CROSS ME NOT (B. Claridge) was slow to begin.

ROSE OF CAITLIN (J. Holder) was slow to begin.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary examination of CROSS ME NOT revealed the mare to be suffering from a seasonal complaint.

RACE 6 – ROLLOND TRANSPORT / SABIS F & M CLASS 3 HANDICAP (SPRING SERIES HEAT 2) – 1200 metres

C. Lindop was fined $100 for doubly engaging herself on COZARVY and FINE STEM. W. Kerford was subsequently engaged to ride FINE STEM.

RACE 7 – GOMMERS TRANSPORT CLASS 5 HANDICAP – 1400 metres

CATHEDRAL END (J. Bowditch) and INTERFACE STAR (C. Lindop) were slow to begin.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary examination of CATHEDRAL END revealed no visible abnormalities.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary examination of INFERFACE STAR revealed soreness in the near fore leg.

RACE 8 – TILLEY’S TRANSPORT CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1200 metres

BLUE PRINCESS (J. Maund) knuckled at the start.

KILILIPI (Darren Holland) was slow to begin.

In the vicinity of the 500 metres HYPERSONIC (J. Lyon) became unbalanced and shifted in and away from BLUE PRINCESS (J. Maund), which had laid in slightly and as a result HYPERSONIC brushed the rail and shifted out, and accidentally contacted the heels of BLUE PRINCESS.

Approaching the 200 metres BLUE PRINCESS (J. Maund), which was showing a tendency to lay in, forced its rider to stop riding and straighten his mount.
