RACE 1 – YALUMBA / SABIS MAIDEN PLATE – 900 metres

KOODA SAN (B. Claridge) and TAPPERS (K. Louca) were slow to begin.

In the vicinity of the 800 metres LOVES TO DANCE (P. Marks), which was racing greenly, shifted out and bumped OUR PEBBLES (J. Maund), which shifted out and bumped ROSZAMA (C. Buchiw).

In the vicinity of the 600 metres WHAT A WIZ (C. Lindop) shifted out slightly, at the same time as LOVES TO DANCE (P. Marks) shifted in slightly, and as a result TAPPERS (K. Louca), which was racing between those two horses and showing a tendency to race greenly, had to be checked and lost its position.

OUR PEBBLES (J. Maund) and TAPPERS (C. Louca), which were both racing greenly, bumped on several occasions in the straight.

In the vicinity of the 200 metres RUSTIC WHIRL (M. Neilson) and POLICIA (D. Cleaver) brushed.

Subsequent to the race an endoscopic examination of RUSTIC WHIRL revealed the mare was suffering from an upper respiratory problem.

RACE 2 – T & R PASTORAL CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1600 metres:

Inside the 200 metres BENARDO (C. Buchiw) laid in, forcing its rider to stop riding and straighten her mount.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary examination of THUNDER LORD revealed no visible abnormalities.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary examination of DAPPERSTAN revealed the gelding had suffered an internal lung haemorrhage.

RACE 3 – CARLIN & GAZZARD / SABIS MAIDEN PLATE - 1400 metres

ROYAL BANNER was a late scratching at 1.15 p.m. after T. Creek failed to arrive on course, before the prescribed time, due to car problems and there was no other suitable rider available.

M. Hoppo was fined $100 for doubly engaging himself on ACT SURE and HALO AMORE. Stewards ruled that M. Hoppo ride HALO AMORE and Darren Holland was engaged to ride ACT SURE.

REKORB (M. Neilson), TOM FOOL (P. Marks) and BELLA BIANCO (C. Lindop) were all slow to begin.

In the vicinity of the 950 metres ZEDOS (D. Cleaver) raced ungenerously and with its head in the air for a short distance.

TOM FOOL (P. Marks) showed a tendency to race greenly throughout the running of the race.

ACT SURE (Darren Holland) showed a tendency to race greenly over the concluding stages.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary examination of TOM FOOL revealed the gelding was lame in the near hind leg. Mrs. V. Clark, Trainer of TOM FOOL, was advised that a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness to Race would be required to be lodged prior to the gelding accepting for any future event.

RACE 4 – JAYPAK CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 900 metres

Correct Weight was delayed in being notified to allow Apprentice J. Lyon to view the official Patrol film of the start. After doing so, in conjunction with Stewards, Correct Weight was duly declared.

KEELY’S GIFT (J. Lyon) stood flat-footed at the start and took no part in the race. Mr. K. Matson, Trainer of KEELY’S GIFT, was advised the mare must complete a Barrier Trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before accepting for any future event.

SALTIMBANCO (B. Claridge) jumped away awkwardly.

BELLA SIGNORINA (C. Lever) showed a tendency to lay in over the concluding stages, forcing its rider to stop riding and straighten his mount on several occasions.

RACE 5 – PATAWALONGA MOTEL DISTANCE CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 2200 metres

Correct Weight for this event was delayed to allow W. Kerford, rider of 3rd Placegetter BOWOOD ROAD, to view the Official Stewards head-on film of the finish. After doing so, in conjunction with Stewards, Correct Weight was duly declared.

BOWOOD ROAD (W. Kerford) jumped away awkwardly.

Shortly after passing the finish post on the first occasion CATHY (B. Vale) shifted in and as a result MOUSE KING (J. Maund), which was racing keenly, had to be checked. B. Vale was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.

In the vicinity of the 450 metres BONNIE WEE CHARLIE (P. Marks) shifted in slightly onto MOUSE KING (J. Maund), which shifted in slightly onto CATHY (B. Vale), which then had to be steadied from the heels of the tiring MOOKSTAR (M. Hoppo).

In the vicinity of the 200 metres DANGER CHARGER (C. Bryant) shifted in quickly, at the same time as ON THE GROG (C. Lindop) shifted out and as a result BOWOOD ROAD (W. Kerford) had to be checked. Shortly after BOWOOD ROAD shifted in and bumped ON THE GROG, which then had to be checked from the heels of MOUSE KING (J. Maund), which had shifted out slightly.

In the vicinity of the 100 metres P. Marks (BONNIE WEE CHARLIE) lost the use of his off-side iron when riding his mount out to the line, became unbalanced and shortly after was dislodged. P. Marks was examined by the Club’s Medical Officers and passed fit to fulfil his remaining engagements.

RACE 6 – CUB HANDICAP – 1400 metres

PITT BOSS KISS (NZ) was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, prior to the race, and was passed fit to take its place in the field.

In the vicinity of the 450 metres DOUBLE LEGEND (M. Neilson) shifted out and bumped PITT BOSS KISS (NZ) (C. Lindop), which became unbalanced for a short distance. M. Neilson was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.

B. Claridge (THE KALICI KID) accidentally dropped his whip in the vicinity of the 300 metres. B. Claridge was warned and advised that a further repetition may result in action being taken against him.

RACE 7 – CHAPMAN’S SMALLGOODS CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1000 metres

M. Hoppo replaced C. Bryant as the rider of FINGERPRINT. C. Bryant was subsequently fined $100 under ARR 120(b).

RACE 8 – SNEATH FREIGHT LINES CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1400 metres

LIPGLOSS was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, prior to the start, and was passed fit to take its place in the field.

In the vicinity of the 450 metres LIPGLOSS (C. Buchiw) shifted in quickly and bumped VELVET LAKE (B. Claridge), which shifted in slightly and as a result SLIPPERY GUY (W. Kerford) had to be checked and lose its position. C. Buchiw was reminded of her obligations and advised to take more care when placed in a similar situation in future.

LIVE THE DREAM (J. Lyon) showed a tendency to lay out and raced greenly in the straight.

VELVET LAKE (B. Claridge) raced greenly over the concluding stages.

Stewards questioned M. Hoppo (MISS DANGER) into the reason why he persisted putting pressure on the leader MANIHI PRINCE (C. Lindop) in the middle stages.

M. Hoppo advised Stewards that after the lead was very keenly contested, in the early stages, he had been trapped four wide and had been instructed by Trainer Mr. B. Burgess, to ride the mare forward and have her in a prominent position as the mare was inclined to race ungenerously back in the field. M. Hoppo was advised that his explanations would be noted.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary examination of MANIHI PRINCE revealed no visible abnormalities.
