RACE 1 : ADELAIDE FESTIVAL CENTRE / SABIS THREE-YEAR-OLD FILLIES MAIDEN PLATE 1100 metres

BELL’S SPIRIT (D. Tootell), JOY OF FLIGHT (S. Price), DEVARIVA (C. Lindop) and PERFECT SOLUTION (C. Bryant) were all slow to jump.

On jumping away WANNA PLAY CHICKEN (S. Cahill) was inconvenienced by PUSHING DAISIES (C. Buchiw), which shifted out.

At the entrance to the straight PUSHING DAISIES (C. Buchiw), which had been inclined to lay out, shifted out and momentarily inconvenienced WANNA PLAY CHICKEN (S. Cahill), which shifted out, taking MISS JAYLO (T. Creek) wider.

C. Buchiw, rider of PUSHING DAISIES, reported the filly was inclined to lay out throughout the event.

Inside the 200 metres PERSONAL DANCER (J. Maund) was held up for a short distance and then raced greenly when taken out, across heels to obtain clear running.

DOMINIONS sustained a small laceration to the off hind cannon during the race.

RACE 2 : P.D.R. SPORT MAIDEN PLATE (1st Division) 1200 metres

PRIMED FOR GLORY (C. Buchiw) jumped away awkwardly and then shifted in onto FURLANG (T. Creek), taking that gelding in onto LOOK ‘N’ LEARN (J. Potter), resulting in that gelding shifting away and as a result WOLF TRAP (C. Lindop) and BLAWITH (W. Kerford) were inconvenienced.

SLEEK FIGHTER suffered a minor laceration to the near hind pastern during the race.

THE STRONGEST LINK (N. Tomizawa) and SKYWOOD (J. O’Connor) brushed.

ARRABIN (NZ) (B. Vale) shifted in on jumping away and inconvenienced WESTERN MAIN (C. Lindop).

Approaching the 700 metres WESTERN MAIN (C. Lindop), which was inclined to race greenly, laid in and contacted the running rail and as a result shifted out and inconvenienced LIFELONG DREAM (S. Price).

At the entrance to the straight SKYWOOD (J. O’Connor) was inclined to lay out.

Approaching the 200 metres GREG (J. Potter) shifted in, resulting in SKYWOOD (J. O’Connor) being taken in and obliged to steady off the heels of LIFELONG DREAM (S. Price).

Near the 200 metres CAINE (Darren Holland), which had commenced to improve, was held up on the heels of SKYWOOD (J. O’Connor), which had commenced to weaken.

Near the 100 metres LIFELONG DREAM (S. Price), which was inclined to lay in, was accidentally struck by the whip of B. Claridge, rider of IT’S A GREY.

Approaching the finish CAPO DEL OPO (D. Tootell) was inclined to lay out under pressure, resulting in IT’S A GREY (B. Claridge) being taken out marginally.

Approaching the finish LIFELONG DREAM (S. Price) was again accidentally struck on the head by the whip of B. Claridge (IT’S A GREY).

S. Price, rider of 3rd Placegetter LIFELONG DREAM, lodged an objection against IT’S A GREY (B. Claridge) being placed 2nd, on the grounds of alleged interference inside the 150 metres. After taking into consideration all submissions, on viewing the official video and acting on their own observations, Stewards dismissed the objection as they determined that initially LIFELONG DREAM had been inclined to shift in of its own accord and that approaching the finish IT’S A GREY had been taken out marginally.

RACE 4 : WOODHEAD INTERNATIONAL MAIDEN PLATE 1600 metres

BIG IMPRA, which refused to be loaded, was withdrawn by Stewards at 1.50 p.m.

Stewards ruled that all monies invested on BIG IMPRA be refunded, with no other alteration to betting.

Ms. K. Evans, Trainer of BIG IMPRA, was advised the mare must complete a Barrier Trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before accepting for any future event.

SIR MAVARICK (B. Claridge) and CHEVALAE (D. Carney) brushed on jumping away.

Near the 200 metres FULL SPEC (J. Holder), in attempting a tight run, shifted in onto NAOMI PREVAILS (NZ) (C. Bryant), which was inconvenienced.

NAOMI PREVAILS (NZ) (C. Bryant) was eased out of the event from the 100 metres.

Inside the 100 metres SOUND TYCOON (J. Bowditch) shifted out under riding onto CHEVALAE (D. Carney), which was inclined to lay in, resulting in CHEVALAE being taken out, making contact with QUITE EASY (NZ) (N. Tomizawa), which was obliged to steady. In consequence CARRAJA (J. Potter) was forced to steady off the heels of QUITE EASY (NZ). J. Bowditch was severely reprimanded and advised in similar circumstances in future he would be expected to attempt to straighten his mount.

KENTON KNIGHT sustained a laceration to the near hind cannon during the event, which required First Aid.

NAOMI PREVAILS (NZ) pulled up lame in the off fore. The mare was subsequently examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported a suspected severe fracture of the off knee.

RACE 5 : BURNS FOR BLINDS / SABIS FILLIES & MARES CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1200 metres

MONSOON BABY (Darren Holland) was slow to jump

At approximately the 300 metres COZARVY (C. Lindop) shifted out under riding onto MONSOON BABY (Darren Holland), which was inconvenienced.

RACE 6 : HARVEY NORMAN CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1100 metres

OXFORD REGENT (B. Claridge) was slow to jump.

SEAVIEW ROAD (C. Buchiw) was slow into stride.

Approaching the 300 metres CACCIANI (NZ) (N. Tomizawa) shifted in and contacted the hindquarters of BONNIE GOLLIE (J. O’Connor) which became unbalanced. In consequence FREEDOM FUNDS (T. Creek), which was racing behind BONNIE GOLLIE, became held up for a short distance.

RACE 7 : THE EXCLUSIVE TICKETING COMPANY CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1800 metres

Acting on a confirmed telephone advice from Trainer Mr. S. Gower, DANCERKOV was withdrawn by Stewards at 8.35 a.m. due to it suffering an abscess in its near fore hoof.

LITTLE MISS CINDY (W. Kerford) raced fiercely in the early and middle stages of the race.

After entering the straight CELLAY (B. Claridge) shifted out onto LITTLE MISS CINDY (W. Kerford), which became inconvenienced and eventually was obliged to steady off the heels of CELLAY. B. Claridge was advised of his obligations when shifting ground in future.

Correct Weight for this event was delayed to permit B. Vale rider of ELEGANT RHAPSODY, and Mr. J. V. Hall Trainer of the mare, to view the official print for third. Correct Weight was duly declared.

RACE 8 : PROJECTION GRAPHICS COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1200 metres

BAY OF STEEL (S. Price) and RATHER GAZE (M. Hoppo) were slow to jump.

Near the 500 metres BEELZA (NZ) (B. Claridge), which was racing tight between JIMMY’S EDGE (R. Faehr) on its outside, and BAY OF STEEL (S. Price) on its inside, became reluctant to hold its position and lost ground.

C. Buchiw, rider of HEART STARTER, reported that in the straight her mount had hung out under pressure, and on pulling up after the race had felt short in its action in front. HEART STARTER was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon, who reported the gelding was lame in the near fore leg.

DIDNEDA, which performed poorly, was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities.

RACE 9 : STATE THEATRE COMPANY CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1600 metres

TOP OF THE MORNING (C. Buchiw) shifted in on jumping away and tightened ARMOUR (W. Kerford), onto AFFINITAS (C. Lindop), which was inconvenienced.

ARMOUR (W. Kerford) was inclined to race fiercely in the middle stages.

Near the 1100 ARMOUR (W. Kerford), which continued to race fiercely, shifted out and brushed ANOTHER FARE (S. Cahill), resulting in that mare being obliged to race without cover.

GHAAZI (NZ), which performed poorly, was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities.

TUDOR ARMY suffered a cut to its near hind leg during the event, which required First Aid.

COMO PRINCE was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon, who reported the gelding was lame in the off fore leg.

ANOTHER FARE was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon, who reported the gelding was lame in the near fore leg and exhibiting signs of shoulder muscle strain.
