RACE 1: ALCOHOL GO-EASY HURDLE, 2800 metres

SCOOP THE GOLD dislodged its rider G Dorol after striking the hurdle near the 700 metres.

ASTRO GUARDIA (K Wynne) struck the hurdle approaching the 300 metres and on landing became awkward on the heels of TAWTRICE.

NASTIVE EDITION (G Young) altered stride and struck the last hurdle becoming unbalanced on landing.

EASTMAN suffered a bi-lateral bleeding attack during the race. Mr B Searle the trainer of EASTMAN was advised the gelding was suspended from racing for a period of three months in accordance with ARR 53 A.

SCOOP THE GOLD was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who recorded no visible abnormalities.

NASTIVE EDITION sustained a laceration to its near knee during the race.

TAWTRICE was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and found to be lame in the near hind cannon.

S Pateman the rider of CLASSIC COUP (NZ) was questioned regarding weighing in overweight. After considering the explanation tendered S Pateman was advised that Stewards would take no action in this instance, however, informed him that future breaches would lead to a penalty being imposed.

RACE 2: SMART CHOICE SPRING PLATE, 900 metres

OAKWOOD, which threw itself down in the mounting yard prior to the race was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon on arrival at the start and passed fit to start.

PAY KEYS (M Hoppo) was slow to jump.

ARGYLE ROAD (C Lindop) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out inconveniencing SPARLIZA (J Potter).

Near the 700 metres SUN STREAM (J Bowditch) got its head up whilst being restrained and shifted away from OUR SHORT STOP (T Barras), which rolled in, resulting in SUN STREAM clipping the heels of KELVINSIDE LAD (B Claridge), which rolled out marginally. As a result, SUN STREAM fell. The Club’s Veterinary Surgeon reported that SUN STREAM had fractured his off fore cannon and was euthanased.

In the vicinity of the 100 metres SON OF SPARTACUS (S Price) shifted in tightening SHE’S A CARD (J Lyon), which became hesitant and shifted about becoming unbalanced. SHE’S A CARD shifted out and brushed the hindquarters of SON OF SPARTACUS (S Price). S Price was reprimanded and advised that in future he would be expected to relieve the pressure sooner than he did on this occasion.

Correct weight was delayed to permit apprentice J Lyon, the rider of SHE’S A CARD and the filly’s trainer Mr P Stokes to view the official footage over the concluding stages. After doing so J Lyon lodged an objection against the winner SON OF SPARTACUS on the grounds of interference over the concluding stages. After considering the evidence of both riders and viewing the official footage Stewards, acting on their own observation, dismissed this objection.

Subsequent the race J Bowditch was examined by the Club Doctor and ruled fit to fulfil his remaining engagements.

RACE 3: SMOKE-FREE HANDICAP, 1000 metres

FUJI LASS (Darren Holland) was hesitant after jumping and then slow into stride. Darren Holland reported the filly raced greenly throughout the race.

RACE 4:NATALIE UREN 30TH BIRTHDAY HANDICAP, 2400 metres

FRENZEL RHOMB was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and ruled fit to start.

BELLTON was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon prior to the start and was ruled fit.

Passing the winning post on the first occasion OLONGOPO (W Kerford), which commenced to race keenly shifted out and brushed FRENZEL RHOMB (N Tomizawa).

Near the 1300 metres CLARENDON’S CURSE (C Bryant) in attempting to improve its position shifted out and applied pressure to FRENZEL RHOMB (N Tomizawa), which was inconvenienced. C Bryant was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.

LOCHI lost its near fore plate during the race.

RACE 5: PROVIDEO HANDICAP, 1600metres

Near the 1100 metres ZIBELLINO (NZ) (S Price) was obliged to steady off the heels of TAIPAN ANNIE (Darren Holland), which shifted in. In being steadied ZIBELLINO (NZ) got its head up and became ungenerous. Darren Holland was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.

RACE 6: LIZ DAVENPORT SPRINT, 1000 metres

DEPRAVE (S Price) jumped away awkwardly and shortly afterwards was inconvenienced by SUIT (J Potter), which shifted out.

STRETTA (C Buchiw) and KEY REVERSAL (J Bowditch) brushed on jumping away.

RACE 7: STUART LITTLE 2 HANDICAP, 1300 metres

I KEN, which aggravated an old wound on its near hind leg, was examined prior to the start and ruled fit.

BENARBER (J O’Connor) stood in the gates and missed the start. Ms K Harrison the trainer of BENARBER was advised that a repetition of the gelding’s behaviour may lead to action being taken.

WESTACE (D Tootell) was slow to jump

PHYLL THE FLYER (J Bowditch) was inclined to lay out after passing the 1000 metres and in the vicinity of the 700 metres got its head up and shifted out abruptly. PHYLL THE FLYER continued to hang out for the remainder of the race.

PHYLL THE FLYER suffered a laceration to its off hind leg during the race and a Veterinary examination of PHYLL THE FLYER revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Mr D Jolly the trainer of PHYLL THE FLYER advised Stewards that the gelding would now be spelled.

C Bryant the rider of ZINEDAN was questioned regarding his failure to weigh in as required. C Bryant was informed that future breaches would result in a penalty being imposed.

RACE 8: ANDY HASKETT’S 80TH BIRTHDAY HANDICAP, 2000 metres

KINGDOM BABE (NZ) was examined prior to the start and passed fit.

In the vicinity of the 1900 metres DAPPERSTAND (C Bryant got its head up and commenced to race fiercely and improved outside the heels of IRISH INTRIGUE (B Claridge) making contact with DUVAL (J Holder), which was tightened on to GEM TRADER (S Price) resulting in that gelding being turned out.

Approaching the 200 metres DAPPERSTAN (C Bryant) became held up for a short distance.

HAGGLE suffered a bi-lateral bleeding attack during the race. Mr B Murphy the trainer of HAGGLE was advised the gelding was now suspended from racing for a period of three months in accordance with ARR 53A.

ISSAPARDEE was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and was found to be lame in the near foreleg.

DUVAL, which was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities.

Mr. V. Bradley, Trainer of RENDELSHAM STAR, has advised Stewards that following the gelding’s disappointing performance it has undergone an extensive Veterinary examination and subsequent arthroscopic surgery on its near side knee.
