RACE 1 – JAMESTOWN HOTEL/MAXIMUM GAMING/SWAN PHARMACY MAIDEN PLATE - 1000 metres

MISS COURTESAN (K. Louca) jumped away awkwardly and raced greenly in the middle stages of the event.

Near the 700 metres MISS COURTESAN (K. Louca) shifted in onto LEGALLY BLOTTO (Maree Henderson) which was taken in onto FAIR IMAGE (B. Grimston) resulting in that gelding having to be checked. K. Louca was reprimanded by Stewards and advised to shift ground only when entitled to do so in future.

Racing inside the 100 metres LET’S POW WOW (M. Henderson) shifted out at the same time as EULYKER (C. Buchiw) shifted in slightly which resulted in MARMARUS KID (D. Cleaver) being hampered for a few strides. M. Henderson was advised he should straighten his mounts in similar circumstances.

RACE 2 – COMMERCIAL HOTEL CLASS D HANDICAP – 1200 metres

Correct Weight for this event was delayed to allow trainer, Mrs S. Stott, and B. Grimston, the rider of the second placegetter NOONETRON BELLE, to view the official print for first. After viewing the print, in conjunction with Stewards, Correct Weight was declared.

D. Cleaver was questioned regarding being overweight and unable to fulfil his engagement for OUR BUTTERFLY in this event. D. Cleaver’s explanation was accepted.

RACE 3 – VOUMARD BELL LAWYER / AMP / WESFARMERS / BUNDALEER HEIGHTS / SABIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1350 metres

GUN SHOT (J. O’Connor) jumped away awkwardly.

JEALTS EXPRESS (K. Louca) was slow to begin.

In the vicinity of the 1300 metres PITT BOSS KISS (NZ) (B. Neville) shifted in and away from KING OF RUBITON (C. Lindop) resulting in JEALTS EXPRESS (K. Louca) having to be steadied.

RACE 5 – VICTORIA GAMING SYSTEMS CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1350 metres

Mr. M. Whittle, the trainer of KEEP WAITING, in Race 5 and Mr. C. Oxlade, the trainer of GUN SHOT in Race 4, were both fined the sum of $20 for failing to declare riders at the required time.
