Strong Entries for Balaklava Cup

South Australias richest provincial event next Wednesdays Listed $70,000 Prices Bakery/Malaysia Airlines Balaklava Cup has attracted strong nominations both locally and interstate.
Among the entries for the tough 1600m event are seven last-start winners and recent Melbourne Metropolitan winners Class Eulogy and Currency Rep.
Christmas Handicap winners Aviate and Border Time represent some of the local hopes for trainers Mark Lewis and Mark Kavanagh, as does Adelaide Guineas placegetter Danish Storm, who is with the Tony McEvoy stable.
His entries also include former New Zealand galloper Our Jermyn Street, who galloped impressively between races at Victoria Park last Saturday.
Veteran galloper and this years Swan Hill Cup winner, Oliver Beer, is on track for the Aquanita stable after a game second last Saturday.
The in-form Questamatic, a winner of her last three starts including the Mildura Cup, is also among the entries along with former Cup winner Old Man, who shared the honours with Old Tawny after dead-heating in the thrilling finish in 1999.
Nominations for three races on the program have been extended until 10am (CST) tomorrow.
