RACE 1 – WANBI HOTEL SOCIAL CLUB / BURDETT’S STORE / SABIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1000 metres

GODIVA (D. Cleaver) jumped away awkwardly and as a result inconvenienced ABULTAR (T. Creek).

SPINNING EAGLE (NZ) (J. Maund) and BLACK CURRENCY (N. Tomizawa) brushed on jumping away.

ALI OPAL (K. Louca) hung out from the 800 metres and as a result raced very wide.

BLACK CURRENCY lost its near hind plate during the running of the race.

RACE 2 – KELVIN WESTBROOK / COLLINS INDUSTRIAL MAIDEN PLATE – 1200 metres

Stewards ordered the withdrawal of STELAW at 11.07 a.m., acting on a confirmed telephone call that the gelding was found to have a filling in its off side front leg.

KING OF COIN (Darren Holland) was slow into stride and lost considerable ground.

Racing to the 700 metres FUMINO BRIGHTIA (N. Tomizawa) shifted in, struck the running rail and lost ground from that point onwards.

SHARE THE WINE (K. Louca) raced greenly in the straight and laid in. As a result, K. Louca was unable to ride the mare out in his normal manner.

GAZING suffered a bi-lateral bleeding attack during the event. Mr. D. Aldridge, Trainer of GAZING, was advised the gelding was now suspended from racing under the provisions of ARR 53A.

RACE 3 – MALLEE CONSTRUCTIONS / GRIFFITHS FARM MACHINERY CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1380 metres

When the gates were released BENYANG (C. Lindop) was inconvenienced due to SMYTZER’S MUSTANG (A. Stead) jumping away awkwardly and shifting out, at the same time as KOODA SHINE (B. Vale) shifted in.

Over the concluding 100 metres of the race FOX HELIOS (J. Maund) was disappointed for a run due to KOODA SHINE (B. Vale) rolling out, at the same time as LORD ARLINGTON (N. Tomizawa) shifted in.

KOODA SHINE lost its near fore plate during the running of the race.

RACE 4 – ALCOHOL GO-EASY / PRETORIA HOTEL / WEST END DISTANCE CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1700 metres

Racing to the 350 metres REALITY’S DREAM (G. Hoobin), when making a run around the outside of ZIP EXPULSION (M. Hoppo), rolled in, resulting in ZIP EXPULSION shifting in, causing KEEP THE BOUNTY (B. Claridge) to be taken in and resulting in SIR MAVARICK (C. Lindop) having to be checked and lose ground.

Approaching the 200 metres SIR MAVARICK (C. Lindop) was unable to obtain a clear run and as a result had to be checked to avoid the heels of KEEP THE BOUNTY (B. Claridge).

RACE 5 – BUNDABERG RUM CLASS 5 HANDICAP – 1100 metres

Mr. M. Whittle, Trainer of KEEP WAITING, approached the Stewards in respect to him having incorrectly declared C. Bryant as the rider of the gelding. Stewards accepted Mr. Whittle’s explanation and permitted A. Stead to replace C. Bryant on KEEP WAITING.

Racing to the 600 metres LINDROS (C. Buchiw), which had commenced to over-race, had to be steadied for some distance to avoid the heels of SMYTZER’S VIEW (W. Kerford).

RACE 6 – BARDRILL MINDARIE-HALIDON CUP – 1800 metres

Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by B. Vale for being doubly engaged on KING OF RUBITON and WINESONG. D. Mittiga replaced B. Vale on WINESONG.

GLENOLA (W. Kerford) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, inconveniencing WINESONG (D. Mittiga) and DORADOS (N. Tomizawa).

Racing to the 1000 metres HAGGLE (C. Lindop) had to ease off the heels of OUTSIDE THE SQUARE (M. Hoppo) and as a result got its head up and over-raced for a short distance.

W. Kerford, rider of GLENOLA, explained that racing to the 600 metres he felt the mare was going to work into the race, but shortly after testing GLENOLA, the mare weakened out of the race quickly.

Racing to the 300 metres OUTSIDE THE SQUARE (M. Hoppo), which had been racing tightly on the inside of DORADOS (N. Tomizawa), was hampered and bumped, due to DORADOS rolling in. As a result, OUTSIDE THE SQUARE became unbalanced for a short distance. N. Tomizawa was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

Prior to the declaration of Correct Weight B. Claridge rider of TOP KALA, and Mr. J. O’Connor Trainer of that gelding, both requested to view the official video film of the race. After doing so, in conjunction with Stewards, Correct Weight was duly declared.

RACE 7 – ZADOW WELL DRILLING / S & K BIGGINS / SABIS CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1100 metres

TAPPERS (K. Louca) and PANNING FOR GOLD (G. Hoobin) were slow to begin.

LONGTIE VET (J. Potter) and BEAU LOTTO (D. Mittiga) jumped away awkwardly.

TAPPERS (K. Louca) commenced to over-race in the early stages and racing to the 600 metres had to be checked to avoid the heels of BARLEES (B. Claridge)

Racing to the 500 metres BARLEES (B. Claridge) shifted out slightly, resulting in OLD SEA SALT (W. Kerford) shifting out and as a result bumped LONGTIE VET (J. Potter), taking that gelding wider.

K. Louca, rider of TAPPERS, dropped his whip racing to the 300 metres. K. Louca was warned and advised that a repetition may result in action being taken against him.
