Wednesday's Murray Bridge Races Report

The father and sons trainer trio of Peter, David and Richard Jolly had reason to smile when their charges won races two, three and four while jockeys Paul Gatt with a treble and Chad Lever with a double added to the flavour of the day’s racing which was worthy of more patrons at Murray Bridge on Wednesday.

David was the first Jolly to lead in a winner when his charge, first starter Tilos gave rider Paul Gatt the first leg of his treble in the 1000 metre second race.

From the Rubiton mare Avaton the three year old Face Value gelding Tilos, the $2-80 favourite, led all the way and recorded a half neck victory over the Trevor Dansie cared for apprentice Amy Herrmann guided Lucy Lou $4. Ceinna Now $10 was another four lengths away third for Darryl Hewitt and David Tootell.

Richard was the second of the Jolly threesome to meet with success when the second time starter Last Charge, the $2-40 public elect, was the half neck winner of race three which was run over 1200 metres and gave rider Chad Lever the first leg of his double.

Fathered by Akhadan from Undercharge Girl, a Never Undercharge matron, Last Charge was on the pace for the entire journey and beat the Simon Price mount, the Tony McEvoy trained first starter Grand Ginger $7. Returned at $14 Pray To Win was another two and a quarter lengths away filling the minor placing for Paul Beshara and apprentice Jackson Matthews.

After watching his sons Richard and David win the two previous races Peter Jolly stepped up to the plate when the Blevic sired Fameson, the $2.80 punter’s choice, recorded a two length victory in the 1000 metre fourth event giving Paul Gatt the second leg of his treble.

From a daughter of Bellotto - Our Fame - Fameson was well placed and beat Zaazorro $5 for trainer Karen Byrnes and lady hoop Clare Lindop. Heaven For Sure $5 was a farther length away third for Bill Bogarts and apprentice Lauren Stojakovic.

Priced at $8.50 and winning the 1600 metre sixth event by one and a quarter lengths the Paul Seater mentored Puerto Banus brought up Paul Gatt’s treble.

A five year old Encosta de Lago gelding from the Woodman matron Laetitia, Puerto Banus came from the rear of the field and beat the John Hickmott charge, the Amy Herrmann piloted Let Go Johnny $4-40 who finished a long neck ahead of Snapertude $4.80 for Barbra Geracitano and apprentice Tillie Neve.

Chad Lever brought up his double when he guided On The Trail $5.50 two neck victory in 1400p metre final event for Robe based trainer Gary Bowyer.

A five year old gelding by the United States bred stallion Foxhound out of the Danger mare A Red Light, On The Trail was not sighted in the early stages but flashed home and defeated the $4.20 public elect Dame Peggy for mentor John O’Connor and rider Todd Pannell.

The combination of John Hickmott and apprentice Libby Hopwood supplied Bratik $26 who was a half neck away third.

Making her raceday debut Dinky $5 gave trainer Jake Stephens and rider Dominic Tourneur a one and three quarter length win in the opening event of 1000 metres.

The daughter of Elvstroem from the Happy Giggle mare Dinkum Star, the two year Dinky led all the way and beat the Heather Lehmann cared for Paul Gatt steered Alpha Man $5.

Ortmayer $4.40 was a farther half head away third for John Thompson and Simon Price.

Rider Troy Baker and horse carer Barry Brook joined forces in the long beck victory of Tureen $15 in the 1400 metre fifth race.

Owned by Adelaide chocolate maker John Haigh the Keep The Faith sired Tureen, out of the Will Dancer mare Cuplet, came from a mid field position to beat Our Freed Man the $2.90 favourite for trainer Craig Stuart and rider David Tootell.

The $26 returned Ashbourne was another three lengths away third for Raygan Rayner and Justin Potter.

Having her ninth raceday outing and winning her second race the Gallo Di Ferro mare Rose Of Nirvana $61 gave her carer Alexlander Justice and rider Libby Hopwood a nose victory in the seventh race which was contested over 1200 metres.

From the daughter of Maamur, Lady Roseland, Rose Of Nirvana was well placed and beat the Ryan McGorman trained Tillie Neve mount Selebourne Road $61.

Counter Claim $8.50 was another length away third for Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas and apprentice Jackson Matthews.
