Early Scratching From Lord Reims

King Diamond

King Diamond became one of the earliest scratchings ever since acceptances for Saturday's racing were taken on a Wednesday morning after being taken out of this weekend's $115,000 Lord Reims Stakes (2600m) at Morphettville.

The Mark Kavanagh-trained galloper was withdrawn from South Australia's primary Adelaide Cup lead-up race at 12:20pm (EST) on Wednesday, less than two hours after final acceptances were taken for Morphettville.

Connections have opted to keep the son of Danewin in Melbourne and he will run at his home track of Flemington in the $150,000 Listed Roy Higgins Quality (2600m).

King Diamond has won two of his past three outings, both of those wins recorded at Flemington.

In the absence of King Diamond, the Darren Weir-trained Maunatrice is expected to be short-priced favourite ahead of last start Mornington Cup winner Guyno.

Below is the final field for the Lord Reims Stakes.
