Placement Perfect To Break Maiden Status
- Wednesday, 23 March 2011 00:45
All will be forgiven of Placement should she win Saturday's $350,000 Group One Schweppes Australasian Oaks (2008m) at Morphettville.
Trained by Danny O'Brien, Placement is still a maiden after 14 starts.
However in that time she has been placed eight times and twice in strong fillies company; second in the Group 2 Wakeful Stakes (2000m) and third in the Group 1 VRC Oaks (2500m) five days later.
By virtue of those two performances last spring, the daughter of Savabeel is well placed to make amends for those defeats on the weekend.
She will face Auraria Stakes winner Shylight and placegetters from the race Southern Speed and Absolutely.
Five horses have completed the Auraria Stakes - Australasian Oaks double; Miss Clipper (1986), Gatherneaux (1992), La Volta (1998), Episode (1999) and Grand Echezeaux (2000) - since the race was first run in 1982.
