Saturday's Morphettville Races Report

Melbourne premiership trainer Peter Moody won his second stakes race for the day when he combined with jockey Linda Meech in the win of Kulgrinda $5.50 in the listed 1050 metre Lightening Stakes at Morphettville on Saturday.

The Exceed And Excel three year old filly from the Bellotto mare River Crossing, Kulgrinda was put into a good position by Meech before going on to record a two and three quarter length win over the Mark Kavanagh prepared Mitchell Speers ridden Amy’s Glen $12.

Obsidian Dragon $4 was a father long neck away third for David Balfour and Clare Lindop.

Jockey Clare Lindop scored the first of four winners when the Karen Byrnes owned and trained Doubly Sure scored a half neck win the 2050 metre opening event.

A $10 chance at barrier rise the O’Reilly gelding Doubley Sure, from the Centaine mare Pyjamas, came from well back to defeat the Luke Oliver mentored Dominic Tourneur ridden Diamondsontheinside $7.50.

Summarise, the $2.80 favourite, was a farther three and a half lengths away third for Steven Theodore and Paul Gatt.

Rider Clare Lindop brought up the second leg of a quartet of winners when the MacDonald/Gluyas trained Kissable $7 scored a nose win in race three which was run over 1050 metres.

Coming from fourth the Exceed And Excel sired Kissable, from the Royal Academy mare Regal Kiss, came from fourth to beat the Mark Kavanagh mentored apprentice Mitchell Speers ridden Weekend Special, the $2.70 favourite.

In a tight finish Tresette $11 was a father short head away third for David Jolly and Justin Potter.

Riding for Cranbourne trainer Louise Bonella, Clare Lindop brought up a mid meeting treble when King’s Dream $8 was the two length winner of the 2030 metre fourth race.

Settling down well and then quickly going to the front King’s Dream beat Krupp Diamond, the $3.20 favourite, for Patrick Payne and Matthew Neilson.

Kuipto Lad $4.40 was another half neck away third for Roslyn Day and apprentice Jordan Frew.

Winning the Mick Dermody Memorial Handicap of 1600 metres for the second time Homicide Hank gave jockey Clare Lindop her fourth winner for the day.

Trained by Jon O’Connor the Falbrav sired Homicide Hank, from the Kenmare matron Cha Cha, came from a mid-field position to beat the Michael O’Leary prepared Lind Meech mount Light Tan $5.50.

La Siroque $5 was another three quarters of a length away third for Tony McEvoy and Mathew Neilson.

Minute By Minute $7 gave Euroa trainer David Hayes and apprentice Nathan Rose a one and a half length win in the 1050 metre second race.

From the Rory’s Jester mare Movida and sired by Barely a Moment, Minuet By Minute came from a rearward position to beat Hot Diamond $5 for mentor Mark Minervini and rider Adrian Patterson.

The $2 favourite Counter Sign was another one and three quarter lengths away third for the combination of Leon MacDonald, Andrew Gluyas and Clare Lindop.

Coming with a long sustained run from the home turn Meadow’s Jim gave trainer Jim Smith and rider Adrian Patterson a one and three quarter length win  in race five which was contested over 1200 metres.

Owned by well known racing personalities Helen and Ken Smith the Akhadan sired Meadow’s Jim $14, from the Heart Lake mare Missy Vivian, beat the $11 chance Aurumcert for mentor John Crouch and jockey Jeffrey Maund.

Iconseefraaraway $11 was three quarters of a length away third for Sue Murphy and apprentice Jackson Matthews.

Jockey Paul Gatt added another winner to his premiership winning season when he rode the Patinack Farm Racing Syndicate owned John Thompson trained Atlanta Falcon to a three quarters of a length win in the 1200 metre final event.

From the Clay Hero mare Flame of Atlanta and fathered by Fastnet Rock, Atlanta Falcon came from well back to beat the Colin Baker trained Amy Herrmann ridden Kate’s Dream $7.

Regalina $7 was a farther neck away third for Karen Byrnes and Dominic Tourneur.
