Morphettville Parks Races Report

Trainer Darren Weir kept up his Adelaide wining strike rate when the Jake Duffy guided Gotta Keep Cool scored a three quarters of a length win  in the opening race which was run over 2400  metres on the Parks track at Morphettville on Saturday.

Sired by Racer’s Edge from the Luskin Star matron Cellar Dweller, Gotta Keep Cool came from a mid field position to beat Onerahi Bay $8 for mentors Lee and Shannon Hope and Reece Wheeler.

Texan Warney, the $2.35 favourite, was another one and three quarter lengths away third for Darryl Dodson and Holly McKechnie.

The tradition of border hopping winners continued when the Wayne Nichols prepared Craig Robertson ridden Oamaru Rose $8 was the one and three quarter length winner of the 1000 metre second race.

From the Desert King mare Desert Gardens and sired by Oamaru Force, Oamaru Rose was a near all the way winner and defeated the David Hayes prepared Jake Duffy ridden Ransom Moment $6.50.

The $2.50 favourite Hot Diamond was a farther two and three quarter lengths away third for Mark Minervini and Jackson Matthews.

Having her thirty first start and saluting the judge for the seventh time Just Sybil $5  gave her trainer Brian Mueller and apprentice Lauren Stojakovic a one and a half length win in race three which was contested over 1250 metres.

Sired by Alannan from the Opera Prince mare Opera Symbol, Just Sybil was always on the pace and beat the Mark Kavanagh prepared Simon Price ridden Amy’s Glen, the $1.70 favourite.

Regalina was another two and a half lengths away third at $12 for Lloyd Kennewell and Dominic Tourneur.

Red Dress Marley $3.70 brought up a duo of wins at Morphettville when she was the two length winner of the 1400 metre fourth race.  Trained by Robert Smerdon and ridden by Simon Price the Hussonet filly, from the Fraar mare Monte Rosa, beat Mossego $3.20 for Phillip Stokes and Dominic Tourneur.

The $12 chance Fiesole was a farther one and a quarter lengths away third.

Showing a liking for the Parks track Blue Maggich, the $4.40 favourite, gave horse carer John Hyam and rider Troy Baker a three and a half length win in the 1550 metre fifth race.

Sired by the American bred Sandtrap from the Victory Dance mare Symbolise, Blue Maggich was well placed and beat Beleconi $8 for Philip Stokes and Dominic Tourneur.

The last start winner Homicide Hank $5 was a farther one and three quarter lengths away third for John O’Connor and Holly McKechnie.

The consistent David Balfour trained apprentice Scott Westover ridden Obsidian Dragon, the $1.50 favourite, scored a three and a quarter length win in the 1000 metre sixth race.

A Hidden Dragon mare from the Monde Bleu matron Aradina, Obsidian Dragon led all the way and defeated Riahgrand $6.50 for Darryl Dodson and Holly McKechnie.

Sequallan $11 was a farther nose away third for Ricky Maund and Jake Duffy.

Jockey Craig Robertson brought up a double when the Michael Carson trained Into the Sun $4 was the half head winner of the 1400 metre seventh race.  A Centre Stalls gelding out of the Rustic Amber mare Kids, Into the Sun was well placed and, in a head bobbing finish, beat the John Hyam prepared Troy Baker ridden Finniss Storm $10.

Lexon $4.60 was a farther neck away third for Lloyd Kennewell and Dominic Tourneur.

Triple Tee $10 brought up two wins in succession for trainer Mark Minervini and rider Matthew Neilson in the final event of the day which was run over 1250 metres.

Sired by Tayasu Tsuyoshi from the Bellotto mare Truly, Triple Tee led throughout and beat Wanaka Gold $13 for mentor Ricky Moore and rider Dominic Tourneur.

Testate $11 was another one and three quarter lengths away for Stewart Padman and Scott Westover.
