Saturday's Morphettville Parks Races Report

Racing consistently the $18.5 favourite Half Moon Rising gave his Casterton trainer Graham Smith and rider Steven Pateman a one and a quarter length victory in the final hurdle race of the year which was run over 3200 metres on the main track at Morphettville on Saturday.

From the Zabeel mare Belle Amber and sired by Song of Tara, Half Moon Rising was well positioned and defeated the Darren Weir prepared John Allen ridden Virvacity $5.50.

Starting one of the outsiders at $151 Bold Fury was a farther three and a quarter lengths away third for Rex Modra and Paul Hamblin.

Trainer David Hayes and apprentice Nathan Rose scored the first leg of a double when Spirited Addition was the two and a quarter length winner of the 1000 metre second race.

A three year old Bel Esprit gelding from the Jugah mare Costly Addition, Spirited Edition $3.30 was always in the leading division and defeated Real Fantasy $5 for the combination of Peter A Jones and Matthew Neilson.

Having the services of Adrian Patterson the Peter Moody prepared Saint Angers, the $2.30 favourite, gave punters their first success of the day in the 1300 metre third event.

A Redoute’s Choice mare from the Marauding matron Abonnement, Saint Angers led all the way and beat the Robert Smerdon trained apprentice Jack Hill ridden Marsh Harbour $4.80.

Furline $10 was a farther two lengths away third for Phillip Stokes and Ben Knobel.

Mentor David Hayes and apprentice Nathan Rose secured their double when the $3.50 public elect Season of Fortune was the half neck winner of race four which was run over 1400 metres.

A Lonhro gelding from the Snaadee mare Falcon, Season of Fortune was well placed and beat Meadows Jim $3.70 for trainer Jim Smith and jockey Adrian Patterson.

The top-weight Goldridge $25 was a farther half length away third filling the minor placing for John Hickmott and Libby Hopwood.

The Golden Snake sired Uchimura $4.40 gave trainer Tony McEvoy and jockey Michael Hoppo a one and three quarter length win in the 2250 metre fifth race.

From the Salmon Leap mare Dine With Me, Uchimura came from well back and beat the David Hayes trained Nathan Rose ridden Reprisal $7.

Woodland Jack $8.50 was another two and a quarter lengths away for Richard Jolly and Simon Price.

Starting the $4.40 favourite Lalla Rookh gave co-trainers Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas and their apprentice Jackson Matthews a long neck victory in the 1550 metre sixth race.

From the Grand Lodge matron Grand Manners and sired by the Irish bred Street Cry, Lalla Rookh took up the running not long after the starter released the field and went on to defeat the Shane Oxlade prepared Justin Potter ridden Day Dream Charlie $6.

Belleconi was another one and a quarter lengths away third for Philip Stokes and Ben Knobel.

Riding for her former master Michael O’Leary and losing her claim apprentice Libby Hopwood guided Light Tan $7 to a neck win in race seven which was run over 1400 metres.

From the Voodoo Rhythm mare Voodalou and fathered by Bianconi Light Tan raced in a mid field position before storming home to beat Any Humour $13 for trainer Lloyd Kennewell and rider Shayne Cahil.

A constant visitor to Adelaide trainer Darren Weir and his apprentice Jack Hill tasted victory when the $2.60 punter’s choice Corvidae greeted the judge with three quarters of a length to spare in the final event of 1250 metres.

The progeny of Marmottan and the daughter of Deputy Governor Jay Jaye, Corvidae was well placed and beat the Daryl Dodson cared for Holly McKechnie ridden Finiguerra $7.  One and a half lengths away third was Cruising Eagle $8 for Will Clarken and Scott Westover.
