Wednesday's Morphettville Parks Races Report

It was a historic day of racing when trainer Tony McEvoy and rider Matthew Neilson teamed together to bring up their quartet of winners in the city on the Parks track at Morphettville on Wednesday.

From the High Yield matron Islands High the three year old chestnut filly Nassau recorded a one and three quarter length win in the 1000 metre second event giving Tony McEvoy and Matthew Neilson the first of their four winners.

Sired by the Irish bred Rock Of Gibraltar the $5 retuned Nassau, who will now go for a spell, was a near all the way winner and beat Zoom $26 for mentor Joe Lockyer and apprentice Jackson Matthews.

Starting at $5 El Prado Gold was a nose away third for David Balfour and his apprentice Scott Westover.

Formerly prepared by David Hayes Devine Being, the $3.20 favourite, had a length to spare in the 1550 metre sixth race and brought up Tony McEvoy and Matthew Neilson’s second winner.

A five year old Canny Lad gelding from Angles, a Quest for Fame mare, Devine Being came from a mid field position and beat the John Hyam cared for Troy Baker mount Double Cream $4.80.

Roslyn Day and apprentice Jordon Frew shared in the minor placing when Kuitpo Blaze $4 was a farther one and three quarter lengths away filling the minor placing.

Matthew Neilson and Tony McEvoy were seen in the winner’s enclosure for the third time when Horatius $8 was the length victor of race seven which was run over 1250 metres

The progeny of the Irish bred Dubawi and the Flying Spur mare Hello Luck, Horatius held down second position for much of the journey before going on to beat the apprentice Amy Herrmann guided Barry Brook trained Tureen $31. Starting at $3.20 Seeyasoon was three quarters of a length away third for David Hayes and Nathan Rose.

Both Devine Being and Horatius will compete in similar type events in the near future.

Grand Ginger, the $3.40 favourite, competed a good day for the McEvoy and Neilson team when the four year old was the one and a half length winner of the 1400 metre final event.

A four year old chestnut gelding by the Irish bred Grandera from the Canny Lad matron Ginger Meg, Grand Ginger was no farther back than second and went on to beat the Todd Pannell mount, the Jon O’Connor trained Tabulated $12.

Serious Danger $21 was another length away third for Kevin and Heather Frew and their son Jordon.

Grand Ginger is likely to have his next run in a 2000 metre event at Morphettville in a fortnight.

Trainer David Hayes brought up his ninth city winner and apprentice Nathan Rose ride his seventh when the $3.40 Nicodora was the two and a quarter length victor of the 1250 metre opening event.

Part owned by Hayes and Les Gordon the Stratum fathered Nicodora, from the Scenic matron Nicola Lass, came from fourth position and defeated the John Hyam cared for Troy Baker mount Parmigiana $14. Ambling $4.20 was another three quarters of a length away third for Barry Brook and apprentice Amy Herrmann.

Ridding for his co-masters Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas Magic Milady gave apprentice Jackson Matthews a two and a quarter length win in race three which was contested over 1550 metres.

Returned at $6.50 the Star Craft three year old filly, from the Rory’s Jester mare Buckle My Shoe, Magic Milady was no farther back than fourth and beat the Jon O’Connor mentored Todd Pannell ridden Von Radetzky, the $3.20 public elect. Spirits Fly $10 was another nose away third for David Jolly and Justin Potter.

Jockey David Tootell received a belated 50th birthday present when he circled the field on the Ken Sweeney trained Goldstinger $9 to post a four and three quarter length win in race four when was run over 2250 metres.

From the Redmead matron Golden Days and fathered by Golden Snake, Goldstinger beat the Libby Hopwood ridden John Hickmott mentored Bell Ringer $4.

Another $4 chance Hurricane Thunder was a farther half neck away third for Claudette Rose and Simon Price.

After having to be content with the minor placing in the previous race jockey Simon Price joined forces with trainer Bill Bogarts in the one and a half length win of Cibreo $21 in the 1300 fifth race.

A Belvicc sired five year old from the Last Tycoon mare Roddick, Cibero was well placed and defeated the Grant Craven prepared Jordan Frew ridden Demon Demon, the $1.80 favourite.

Monstarhit $17 was a farther one and a quarter lengths away filling the minor placing for Will Clarken and Todd Pannell.
