SA's Best To Resume At Morphettville

Budriguez

After suffering an untimely setback recently, Budriguez should be competitive first-up from a 20-week spell in Sunday’s $50,000 Sportingbet Handicap (1200m) at Morphettville.

Trainer David Jolly told TRSA stewards that last season’s South Australian Horse of the Year had missed a week of trackwork (between September 16 to 23) due to bruising in the near fore coronet turning into an abscess.

Budriguez was due to commence his spring preparation in the $70,000 BMW Handicap (1100m) at Caulfield on September 17 but was scratched due to his condition.

Jolly told stewards that the abscess burst on September 23 and since then Budriguez has responded well to treatment and resumed a full trackwork schedule with no discomfort.
