Sunday's Morphettville Races Report

Jockey Matthew Neilson scored his seventh winner for the season as a result of a pick-up ride on the Richard Jolly trained Ajhar $3.80 in the opening event of 2500 metres on Sunday.

Sired by the GB bred Diesis from the Riverman mare Min Alhawa, Ajhar was well placed and recorded a three and a half length win over the Libby Hopwood ridden John Hickmott trained Bell Ringer $18.

The $2 favourite Uchimura was a farther two and three quarter lengths away third for Tony McEvoy and Michael Hoppo.

Winning her second race in succession Societal $2 gave Flemington trainer Danny O’Brien and rider Simon Price a half length win in race two which was contested over 1200 metres.

From the Desert Prince mare Princess Society and fathered by Mossman, Societal came from a rearward position to beat the Stuart Padman trained Jordan Frew ridden Imperial Fury $3.20.

Flying Away $7.50 completed the trifecta for John O’Connor and Clare Lindop.

Mentor David Hayes and apprentice Nathan Rose continued their successful run in Adelaide when Spirited Addition, the $2.60 favourite, was the two and a half length winner of race three which was run over 1050 metres.

A Bel Esprit three year old gelding from the Jugah mare Costly Addition, Spirited Addition led all the way and beat the Tony McEvoy cared for Libby Hopwood ridden Harmonic $5.50.

Alchemy’s Eight $9 was another one and a quarter lengths away third for Karen Byrnes and Lauren Stojakovic.

After a long run of outs Woodland Jack gave his trainer Richard Jolly and rider Matthew Neilson a double when the Viscount gelding was the half head winner of race four which was run over 2024 metres.

From the Danehill mare Lady Marion, Woodland Jack came from well back and defeated the David Hayes trained Nathan Rose ridden Sky Journey $4.80.

The $2.40 favourite Lalla Rookh was a short half head away third for the combination of Leon Macdonald, Andrew Gluyas and Clare Lindop.

The Eighth Maker returned to racing after a three month let up in good style and brought up a double for Nathan Rose in the 1200 metre fifth event.

Starting at $3.50 and trained by Lloyd Kennewell the Clangalang sired The Eighth Maker from the Bluebird mare Floral Emblem, came from last and, putting in a power house-like run over the concluding stages, beat the Darren Weir prepared apprentice Jack Hill ridden Corvidae, the $2.30 favourite.

Little Akie $4.60 was a farther one and three quarter lengths away filling the minor placing for Brian Mueller and Lauren Stojakovic.

Nathan Rose brought up his first metropolitan treble and trainer Lloyd Kennewell led in his second winner when Rialya scored a neck victory in the 1600 metre sixth race.

Starting at $5 the Kempinsky sired Rialya, from the Prince Echo mare Ettu Blue, came from a mid-field position to beat the Michael O’Leary prepared Libby Hopwood ridden Light Tan $3.80.

Another Michael O’Leary runner Irish High King $5.50 was a farther nose away third with Dom Tourneur in the saddle.

Conservatorium, the $2.80 favourite, brought up his fifth win from eleven starts in the 1200 metre seventh race.  Prepared by Garry Kennewell and having the services of Shayne Cahill the Royal Academy gelding, from the Belong to Me mare Belong to Madam, Conservatorium led all the way and beat the David Jolly prepared Jordan Frew ridden Budriguez $4.20.

Too Many Reds $5.50 was a farther long neck away third for Tony McEvoy and Libby Hopwood.

Having to survive a protest Gift of Knowledge $8 gave trainer Simon Casey and jockey Simon Price a nose victory in the final event of 1200 metres.

Sired by Knowledge from the Double Century mare Doutole, Gift of Knowledge came from a worse than mid-field position to defeat the Mark Minervini trained Shayne Cahill guided Test Century $7.

The $3.60 chance Cruising Eagle was a farther three quarters of a length away third for Will Clarken and Matthew Neilson.
