Wednesday's Gawler Races Report

After holding up the start and then circling the field Beearch $5 gave her trainer Tim Snelling and jockey Todd Pannell a half length victory in the opening event of 1111 metres at Gawler on Wednesday. 

From the Geiger Counter matron Atomic Miss and sired by Golden Lake, Beearch beat the Roy Rogers prepared Clare Lindop ridden Meadows Storm, the $4.60 favourite.

The combination of Ken M Knowles and apprentice Jackson Matthews were associated with Desert Tales $8 who was a farther three quarters of a length away third.

Starting at $4.40 My Ex Mate scored his first win from eight starts in the 1715 metre second race.

Prepared by Peter Blanch and having the services of Shayne Cahill the Not a Single Doubt sired four year old, from the Kenny’s Beat Pal mare Indris, My Ex Mate came from a midfield position in the middle of the tack to beat the Will Clarken trained Todd Pannell ridden Monstarhit $4.

Spirits Fly, the $3.70 favourite was a neck away third for David Jolly and Justin Potter.

The combination of local trainer Gary Searle and rider Adrian Patterson had reason to smile when Yorke Peninsular $7 scored a one and a quarter length win in race three which was run over 1111 metres.

Owned by Stansbury residents Malcolm and Raelene Modra and Trevor Watts, Yorke Peninsular $7, a Clanalang gelding from the Salmon Leap mare Artistic Belle, settled well and came to the centre of the track late in the race going on to beat the Clayton Bromley mentored Shayne Cahill ridden Ruling Doubt $31.

Viva La Ranga $3.50 was a farther one and a quarter lengths away third for Gordon Richards and Clare Lindop.

Gary Searle said after the race that Yorke Peninsular will have its next run at Bordertown in a fortnight.

Jockey Adrian Patterson brought up a race to race double when he guided the $8 chance Granulator to a two length win in race four which was run over 1211 metres.

Being under the care of Oakbank based trainer Roslyn Day the Akhadan sired Granulator, from the Bellotto matron Granules, came from a midfield position and beat the Tony McEvoy trained Matthew Neilson ridden Velocidade, the $3.20 favourite.

Son of Nala $4.60 was a farther one and a half lengths away third for John Hickmott and Libby Hopwood.

Gary Searle brought up a training double and rider Adrian Patterson rode his third winner when Pierremont Express, the $2.25 favourite, put a margin of two and a quarter lengths between herself and her rivals in the 2121 metre fifth race.

From the Gold Ace matron Kete’s Ace and sired by the Irish bred stallion Carnegie, Pierremont Express was well back early before going three wide to hit the lead soon after the field straightened for the run to the judge.

Pierremont Express beat the Garret Lynch trained Justin Potter ridden Callmedan $3.40.

Birchmore Road $14 was a farther three and three quarter lengths away third for Grant Young and Lauren Stojakovic.

Gary Searle said after the event that he will look for a 2500 metre race in the city for Pierremont Express.

The Street Cry sired Cruz’n Now brought up its second win in twenty six starts to give his trainer Darryl Hewitt and apprentice Jackson Matthews a two and a half length win in the 1715 metre sixth event.

From the Devaraja mare Just Do It Now, Cruz’n Now was well back in the early stages before coming with a strong outside run in the straight to beat Grand Group $9 for Ken Sweeney and Clare Lindop.

After being the early pace maker Visa Boy $7 was a farther four and a quarter lengths away filling the minor placing for Scott Trenowden and Libby Hopwood.

Zai Fan brought up her second successive win to give jockey Matthew Neilson and trainer Jake Stephens a three quarters of a length victory in race seven which was contested over 1111 metres.

A Footstepsinthesand four year old mare Zia Jian, from the Primo Dominie mare Peaceful, came from the middle of the field and, going to the extreme outside to find the better going, beat the Bill Bogarts mentored Libby Hopwood ridden Twilight Dancer.

Imperial Rain was a neck away third for Ricky Moore and Simon Price.

Jockey Adrian Patterson had his best day in the saddle when Clearly Passionate $6.50 brought up win number three for trainer Gary Searle and the fourth win for Adrian Patterson in the 1211 metre eighth and final event.

Coming from a worse than mid field position the Dubawi sired  Clearly Passionate, from the Magic Ring mare Lindsay’s Ring, came with a strong run down the centre of the track to defeat the Peter Moody cared for Troy Baker ridden Justify That, the $3.20 favourite.

The former NSW galloper Daily Flyer $3.40 was another half length away third for Mark Kavanagh and Nathan Rose.

Clearly Passionate will have its next start in a Rating 0-75 mares event at Morphettville on October 22.
