Saturday's Morphettville Races Report

Jockey Clare Lindop made it a step closer to her 100th winner when she guided the Leon Macdonald/Andrew Gluyas trained Lalla Rookh, the $2.50 favourite, to a three and a quarter length win in the opening event of 2038 metres at Morphettville on Saturday.

From the Grand Lodge mare Grand Manners and fathered by the Irish bred sire Street Cry, Lalla Rookh recorded an all the way win over the Tony McEvoy prepared Matthew Neilson ridden Foxham $3.

Starting at $2.80 Texan Warney was a farther two and a quarter lengths away third for Darryl Dodson and Holly McKechnie.

After finishing second in the opening event trainer Tony McEvoy and jockey Matthew Neilson went one better when Paris Memory, the $2.50 favourite was the three quarters of a length winner of race two which was contested over 1529 metres.

A five year old Redoute’s Choice mare, from the Bluebird mare Forget Paris, Paris Memory came from a midfield position and beat the Phillip Stokes prepared Daniel Lane ridden Furline $3.70.

Another Tony McEvoy runner Simply Boogie $7.50 was a farther nose away third with Libby Hopwood in the saddle.

Having her first start Alezan Thunder, the $2 favourite, took out the first two year old race of the season for trainer Mark Kavanagh and jockey Simon Price in the Fulham Park Plate of 1000 metres.

A daughter of Written Tycoon and the Thunder Gulch mare Elysian Thunder, Alezan Thunder was well placed and will now be prepared for a 1000 metre two year old race over the straight at Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day.

Alezan Thunder beat Little Critter $8 for mentor Tony McEvoy and rider Matthew Neilson.

Rappers Delight $3.90 was another one and a half lengths away third for David Hayes and Nathan Rose.

Clare Lindop brought up her magical thousandth winner when she guided the Leon Macdonald/Andrew Gluyas prepared Perfect Punch $2 to a three quarters of a length win in the Listed Hill Smith Stakes of 1800 metres.

A son of the 2004 AJC Derby winner Starcraft, from the Tayasu Tsuyoshi mare Tayasu Run, Perfect Punch came from a mid field position and beat Quench the Thirst $2.80 for Mark Kavanagh and Simon Price.

Mossego $4 was a farther three lengths away third for Phillip Stokes and Shayne Cahill.

The Mick Whittle prepared Troy Baker ridden Strong Campagne brought up its third win from eleven starts when the gelding was the head winner of the 1100 metre fifth race.

Starting at $8 the Lago Delight sired Strong Camgange, from the Festal mare Elecampagne, came from well back to beat the Daniel Clarken trained apprentice Lauren Stojakovic ridden Pelican Red $31.

The $2.50  punter’s choice Nordic Monarch was a farther one and a half lengths away third for Tony McEvoy and Matthew Neilson.
