Wednesday's Murray Bridge Races Report

The combination of trainer Roy Rogers and rider Dominic Tourneur got the Murray Bridge Cup Day off to a good start when the three year old gelding Exalted Moment scored a one and a quarter length win in the opening event of 1000 meters at Murray Bridge on Wednesday.

Sired by Barely a Moment and mothered by the Keepers mare Exalted Miss the Ken and Helen Smith raced Exalted Moment $5 led all the way and defeated the David Jolly prepared Scott Westover mount Doohan, the $2.70 favourite.

Classy Chloe $8 was a farther two lengths away third for John Hickmott and Joe Bowditch.

Jockey Simon Price brought up the first leg of a race to race double when the top weight Bain Posh gave local trainer Simon Casey a length win in race two which was run over 1000 metres.

From the Belotto mare She’s Posh and sired by the United States bred Bianconi, Bianposh $5 was well placed and beat Sounds Like Leon $4.60 for Kym Buick and Dale Evans making it a Murray Bridge quinella.

McLaren Overture $6.50 was a farther neck away third for John Kluske and Joe Bowditch.

Simon Price scored a back to back win when the $3.40 favourite Zerprise Us All gave local men tor Mick Huxtable a half length win in race three which was contested over 1400 metres.

A Dubai Destination filly from the Zerpour mare Zerprisal, Zerprise Us All was mid-field early in the race before going on to beat Major De $81 for the combination of Emma Hubbard and Todd Pannell.

The $8 chance Meadows Mollie was a short head away third for Roy Rogers and Libby Hopwood.

Simon Price brought up a hat trick of winners when he rode the Claudette Rose trained Hurricane Thunder $8.50 to a two and a quarter length win in the 2200 metre fourth race.

Sired by Planchet from the Western Symphony mare Theatre Talk, Hurricane Thunder was well placed and went on to defeat the Greg Lesnikowski prepared Joe Bowditch mount Sturgis $5.50.

Asso Bello $4.40 was a farther long head away third for Dennis O’Leary and Reece Wheeler.

Sired by Testa Rossa from the King’s Theatre mare Laura’s World, Testate gave local trainer Stuart Padman and visiting former SA jockey Joe Bowditch a three quarters of a length victory in the 1400 metre fifth event.

Coming from a rearward position Testate $3.60 finished too strongly for the Liz Faust trained Tamara Zanker ridden Shaketheground $31.

Ruling to Win, the $2.60 favourite, was a farther one and a quarter lengths away third for John Hickmott and Dominic Tourneur.

Oakbank based trainer Claudette Rose brought up her first training double when the Glen Davis guided Resenda $14 was the length winner of the 1600 metre sixth race.

A five year old daughter of Mugharreb from the Star Gazer mare Icy Gaze, Resenda came from a mid field position to beat the Stuart Padman prepared Clare Lindop ridden Cadasha, the $4 favourite.

Tristacat $5.50 was a neck awa y third for Jon O’Connor and Adrian Patterson.

After winning the feature event at Caulfield with Atlantic Jewel trainer Mark Kavanagh brought up a two state double for the afternoon when War Ends $18 was the nose winner of the 1600 metre Murray Bridge Cup.

Having the services of Queensland jockey Joe Bowditch who is visiting family in Adelaide for a fortnight, the Redoubte’s Choice sired Ware Ends, from the Do Not Forget me matron Good News, came from the middle of the field with a rails run and defeated the Sam Turner prepared Dominic Tourneur piloted Sandhill Prince $10.

Starting at $4.40 Too Many Reds was a farther half neck away third for Tony McEvoy and Simon Price.

The Darryl Dodson prepared Nathan Rose guided Riahgrand $6 scored a long neck all the way win in the 1000 metre Flying Handicap.

A Staaraq gelding from the Curravilla mare Al Riahd, Riahgrand made it eight wins from twenty four starts when he defeated the Tony McEvoy cared for Matthew Neilson ridden Candle $3.80.

Globalwarmnsceptic $7 was a farther half length away third filling the minor placing for Lloyd Kennewell and Joe Bowditch.

Trainer Roy Rogers and owners Ken and Helen Smith celebrated their second win for the day and jockey Clare Lindop brought up her 1001st winner when Meadows Dan was the long neck victor of the  1400 metre final event.

Starting a $6 chance at barrier rise the six year old gelding son of Akhadan from Keepara Princess, a Keepers mare, Meadows Dan powered home from a mid field position and beat the Matthew Seyers  cared for Simon Price guided Friendsinthefield $19.

Sophielicious $6.50 was another length away third for Phillip Stokes and Shayne Cahill.
