Saturday's Morphettville Races Report

Jockey Adrian Patterson continued his good run of luck when he teamed with Gawler based trainer Gary Searle in the one and three quarter length win of Pierremont Express in the opening event of 2500 metres at Morphettville on Saturday.

Starting at $9 the Carnegie sired Pierremont Express, from the Gold Ace mare Kate’s Ace, came from the rear of the field and beat the $1.60 favourite Sky Raider for mentor Tony McEvoy and rider Mark Pegus.

Palmaro $6 was a farther two and three quarter lengths away third for Ciaron Maher and Paul Gatt.

The combination of mentor Tony McEvoy and rider Mark Pegus tasted victory when the $1.85 favourite Little Critter was the one and three quarter length winner of race two which was run over 1000 metres.

From the Rustic Amber mare Gotha, the Court Command two year old colt led all the way and beat Couldn’t Agreemore $7 for trainer David Balfour and rider Todd Pannell.

Tony McEvoy also prepared the third horse, the Simon Price ridden Portici $5 who was a farther short-neck away filling the third placing.

Winning by a margin of a short head Awe and Wonder $26 gave veteran trainer Len Smith and jockey Paul Denton a short head win in the 1600 metre third race.

Sired by the USA bred Fasliyev from the Last Tycoon mare Mystifing, Awe and Wonder raced in the middle of the field early before going on to beat the Ross MacDonald trained Les Beer ridden Pancino $5.

Goldridge $4 was another three and a quarter lengths away third for John Hickmott and Adrian Patterson.

The Cairon Maher prepared apprentice Jackson Matthews ridden Mr O’Ceirin made it two wins in succession when it was the four length winner of the 2050 metre fourth race.

Starting at $3.60 and leading all the way the Postponed sired Mr O’Cierin, from the Yachtie matron Cadell, beat the Russell

Cameron prepared Simon Price guided Catwen Boy $4.20.

Uchimura $5 was a farther long neck away third for Tony McEvoy and Mark Pegus.

After travelling three wide for a portion of the race the General Nediyum sired Cruising Eagle gave his trainer Will Clarken and apprentice Scott Westover a two and a quarter length win in race six which was contested over 1200 metres.

From the Danehill mare Rising Eagle, Cruising Eagle the $3.20 favourite, finished too strong for the Phillip Stokes prepared Shanye Cahill ridden Royal Tern $5.50.

Shoorwin $5.50 was a farther two lengths away third for Paul Bashara and Libby Hopwood.

In a tight struggle Immortality gave his trainer Mick Whittle and jockey Troy Baker a nose victory in race six which was run over 1000 metres.

The progeny of Lion Hunter and the Keltrice mare She’s God’s Gift, Immortality beat the Mark Young mentored Jackson Matthews ridden Anteros $7.

The early leader Obsidian Dragon was a farther one and three quarter lengths away third for David Balfour and his apprentice Scott Westover.

The Ken Sweeney prepared Simon Price ridden Riziz $6 made it two wins form four starts when he was the short-neck winner of the 1200 metre seventh race.

A three year old Zariz gelding from the Covetous mare Priya, Riziz came from a midfield position to defeat the Karen Byrnes prepared Adrian Patterson guided Alchemy’s Eight $10.

Starting at the good odds of $14 Zen was another one and a half lengths away third for Gordon Richards and Amy Herrmann.

Apprentice Scott Westover brought up a double when he rode the Darren Weir prepared Corvidae, the $2.80 favourite, to a one and a quarter length win in race eight which was run over 1200 metres.

A Marmottan sired four year old entire, from the Deputy Governor mare Jayjaye, Corvidae was well placed before going on to beat Lexcen $3 for mentor Lloyd Kennewell and Shayne Cahill.

Barwon Express $18 was another one and three quarter lengths away third for the combination of Richard Jolly and Paul Gatt.

The combination of Caulfield trainer John Salanitri and apprentice Nathan Rose joined in the one and three quarter length win of Rorke’s Drift $4 in the final event of 1050 metres.

A Commands gelding from the Over mare Long Walk, Rorke’s Drift came from a rearward position and defeated Erfaan, the $2.20 favourite, for Euroa trainer David Hayes and rider Paul Gatt.

Statue of Glory was a farther half length away third for John Hyam and Wayne Kerford.
