Strathalbyn Races Report

Supporters of the Brian Mueller stable got off to a good start when Miss Flyhigh $4.20 was the four and a half length winner of the opening event of 1350 metres at Strathalbyn on Wednesday.

Having the services of Paul Gatt and part owned by Mueller's wife Lorraine, the Akhadan four year old mare, from the Prince of Birds mare Makabelle, Miss Flyhigh was last on settling down but quickly circled the field and took the lead just before the home turn going on to beat the Bill Bogarts trained Jason Holder ridden Miss Kerching $4.80.

Hilaady $6.50 was a farther seven and a half lengths away for Karen Brynes and Clare Lindop.

Jockey Paul Gatt brought up an early double when he teamed with trainer David Jolly in the half length win of God's Way in the 1200 metre second race.

Starting the $1.26 public elect the God's Own three year old filly God's Way, from the Real Jester mare Red Pluton, was handy to the lead in the early stages before dropping back through the field but had enough speed once more to go on to defeat the Barry Dunn cared for Todd Pannell ridden Aradanchi $9.50.

The combination of Gillian Davey and Clare Lindop supplied Rory's Union $3.60 which was a farther two lengths away third.

Trainer Peter F Blanch and jockey Shane Cahill celebrated the win of Silent Attitude $4.40 in the 1200 metre third race.

Winning by a short half head the Tayasu Tsuyoshi sired Silent Attitude, from the Amen Brother mare Landscape's Gift, Silent Attitude came from a mid field position to defeat the David Jolly prepared Justin Potter ridden Spirit's Fly, the $2.40 favourite.

Pictorella $7 was a farther four and three quarter lengths away filling the minor placing for Jake Stephens and Paul Gatt.

David Jolly brought up his second win for the day when he combined with rider Justin Potter in the three length win of Assertive Spirit in race four which was contested over 1600 metres.

Starting the $1.24 favourite the Reset sired Assertive Spirit, from the Hurricane Sky matron Jubilant Spirit, settled near the rear of the field and gradually improved her position to go and beat the John Dunn trained Matthew Neilson ridden Fantastic Reign $5.

Aussie Staar $71 was another one and three quarter lengths away third for Michael Vassallo and Adrian Patterson.

After jumping well and maintaining a forward position before being joined in the lead on the home turn Shez A Gaze went on to score a two and a quarter length win in the 2050 metre fifth race.

Being under the care of Ken Sweeney and having the services of Simon Price the Staargazer mare, from the Zoffany matron She Zoff, Shez A Gaze $2.90 beat the John MacMillan prepared Clare Lindop ridden Golden Schnapps $3.20.

Sultan of Speed $26 was another half head away third for Karen Byrnes and Adrian Patterson.

Trainer David Jolly brought up a trio of wins when Imperial Lines won his third race in a row in race six which was run over 1350 metres.

Ridden by apprentice Scott Westover and starting the $2.25 favourite, the Refuse to Bend fathered Imperial Lines, from the Royal Academy mare My Duchess, jumped well and then drifted back into the middle of the field but mustered enough speed once again to go on to beat Ticket to Vegas $12 for trainer Georgie Henderson and rider Troy Baker.

Testate $5.50 was a farther half length away third for Stuart Padman and Jason Holder.

Sired by Akhadan the six year old mare Kate's Dream $6 from the Dieu D'Or mare Makmore, supplied trainer Colin Baker and rider Todd Pannell with a two length win in the seventh race which was contested over 1350 metres.

Being well positioned throughout the event Kate's Dream defeated the Barry Dunn prepared Shane Cahill guided Scrublands $.6.50.

Starting at $7 Taj Maher was another three quarters of a length away for Barry Woosnam and Amy Herrmann.

Trainer and newly elected life member of the Strathalbyn Racing Club Fred Meuring, and apprentice Nathan Rose, tasted victory when You Are So Vain recorded a nose win in the final event which was run over 1200 metres.

Quoted at $8.50 when the starter released the field the Noverre sired You Are So Vain, out of the Spectrum matron Pretty Pinay, travelled in a mid field position before going on to beat the Jason Holder guided Stuart Padman cared for Limbo Queen $5

The combination of David Jolly and Justin Potter were associated with Noid $6.50 who was another nose away third.
