The Stravinsky sired Irish Rhapsody $6.50 gave trainer John Hickmott and rider Jason Holder a long neck victory in race three which was run over 1800 metres.

From the Sadler's Wells mare Rose of Tralee, Irish Rhapsody started well and then was seen to drift back but had enough speed over the concluding stages to go on and beat the Gary Searle trained Clearly Passionate $4.40.

Final Command $9.50 was a farther long neck away third for John MacMillan and Jordan Frew.

The consistent Just Sybil gave veteran trainer Brian Mueller and apprentice Lauren Stojakovic a one and a quarter length win in race four which was run over 1100 metres.

Owned by Mueller's wife Lorraine the Alannan sired mare Just Sybil, from the Opera Prince mare Opera Symbol, settled at the rear of the field but came with a strong run over the concluding stages to beat Bella Leah $10 for mentor Paul Seater and rider Libby Hopwood.

Grand Duels, the $3.40 favourite, brought up a trifecta for the lady riders after Clare Lindop guided the gelding into third place, a neck away, for Byron Cozamanis.

The former Eric Musgrove prepared Pilot's Lane $5.50 won its first race for Tony McEvoy when he was the one and a half length winner of race five which was run over 1100 metres.

A More Than Ready four year old gelding from the Desert Sun matron Amnesia, Set and Forget led all the way and beat Golden Penny $4.40 for horse carer Richard Jolly and rider Clare Lindop.

Andamooka Gem was a farther three quarters of a length away third for Lloyd Kennewell and Todd Pannell.

Barwon Express $14 was a farther long neck away third for the combination of Richard Jolly and Todd Pannell.

The win of Bagman gave Kavanagh his second Christmas Handicap win. Kavanagh won with Border Time in 2000. It was also Price's second success in the Black Type event as he won on the late Peter Hayes trained Civil List in 1997.

Strathalbyn trainer Peter Moody and rider Libby Hopwood combined their efforts when Justify That $14 was the one and a quarter length winner of the final of the Star of Christmas Series which was run over 1400 metres.

From the West Point matron Duty With Honour and sired by King of Prussia, Justify That came from a mid-field position and beat Bertucci $3.60 for trainer Lloyd Kennewell and rider Matthew Neilson.
