Morphettville Races Report

Little Ducati $18 opened her winning account at start number two when she scored a short neck win in the opening event of 1050 metres at Morphettville on Saturday.

Trained by Mornington based mentor Kaye Harris and having the services of Adrian Patterson the Bel Esprit filly, from the Catbird mare Ellie Cat, Little Ducati was on the pace for the entire journey and went on to beat the David Hayes prepared Paul Gatt ridden Extreme Impact $5 by a short neck.

Host with the Most $51 was a farther half length away third for Mick Whittle and Troy Baker.

Having had to survive a protest the John Hyam prepared Troy Baker ridden Petman, the $2.25 favourite, scored a half length win in race two which was run over 1200 metres.

Sired by Lonhro from the King's High mare Gift Bouquet, Petman was well placed and beat the one time leader, the Heather Lehmann prepared Holly McKechnie ridden Alpha Man $4.60.

Reachfar $26 was another head away third for Gordon Richards and Adrian Patterson.

Oui Si Attitude $6 won its second race in succession when it was the length winner of the 1600 metre third race.

Being under the care of Jon O'Connor and ridden by Todd Pannell, the Bianconi sired mare from the Flying Spur matron Sizzie 'em came from a midfield position and beat Silent Attitude, the $2.45 favourite, for trainer Peter Blanch and rider Shayne Cahill.

Beautiful Soul $5 was another half length away third for Daniel Clarken and his apprentice Lauren Stojakovic.

Punters had their second collect of the day when the Lloyd Kennewell trained Paul Gatt ridden Bertucci, the $1.75 favourite, was the one and three quarter length winner of the 1600 metre fourth race.

From the Zabeel mare Lazulia and sired by the USA bred More Than Ready, Bertucci started well before drifting back to near last and then mustered enough speed to go on and beat Mahmentum $6 for the combination of Strathalbyn mentor Peter Moody and rider Libby Hopwood.

Woodland Jack $15 was a farther one and a quarter lengths away third for Richard Jolly and apprentice Jacob Rule.

Settling in a mid field position Lennybe gave trainer David Jolly and rider Matthew Neilson a half length win in the 2050 metre fifth race.

Starting at $4 the Carnegie sired Lennybe, from the Kaapstad mare Satirical Miss, beat the Lloyd Kennewell mentored Shanye Cahill ridden Ocsmepop, the $2.40 public elect.

Irish Rhapsody $6.50 was another one and three quarter lengths away third for John Hickmott and Jason Holder.

Paul Gatt brought up a double when he rode the Mark Kavanagh prepared Meshmaker to a four and a quarter length win in race six which was run over 1800 metres.

Sired by Testa Rossa from the Golden Missile mare She's Double Gold, Meshmaker came from a midfield position and beat Indeed I Do $10 for Darwin trainer Kerri Petrick and apprentice Amy Herrmann.

French Academy $31 was another short head away third for the combination of Scott Trenowden and Todd Pannell.

Jockey Matthew Neilson brought up a double when he piloted the Phillip Stokes trained Republique $4 to a half head victory in race seven which was contested over 1000 metres. An Exceed And Excel five year old gelding from the Woodman mare Forest Pearl, Republique was well placed and went on to beat the Mark Minervini trained Shayne Cahill ridden Chief of Staff $11.

Lilgiggleo $6 was a farther one and a quarter lengths away filling the minor placing for Paula Trenwith and Jason Holder.

Jockey Paul Gatt turned in a excellent day in the saddle when the Richard Jolly trained Golden Penny gave him win number three in the final event of 1200 metres.

Starting the $3.60 favourite and winning by a margin of one and a half lengths the Blevic sired Golden Penny out of the Danehill Dancer mare Miss Moula came from mid field and defeated Test Century $12 for horse carer Mark Minervini and apprentice Jacob Rule.

The $6 chance Andamooka Gem was another half length away third for Lloyd Kennewell and Shayne Cahill.
