RACE 1 – LADIES IN RACING MAIDEN PLATE (4YO & UPWARDS – SET WEIGHTS) - 1200 METRES

Stewards granted permission for the rider of LEX LOCI (B Bamford (a)) not to carry a whip.  A public announcement was made to this effect prior to the start of the race.

At the start, HERMEKA (B McCoull) jumped inwards and bumped with LA BALLERINA GIRL (K Boxall (a)).

NIGHT FIGHTER (P Michaelides) was unable to muster early speed.

Apprentice K Boxall  (LA BALLERINA GIRL) was severely reprimanded under AR 137(a) careless riding in that she allowed her mount to shift ground in when insufficiently clear of EASY CHARLIE (J Cameron).  As a result EASY CHARLIE was inconvenienced and lost ground and JUST REMEMBER (D Pires) was hampered.  In not taking more severe action, Stewards took into account that just prior to the incident, JUST REMEMBER had shifted ground outwards and made contact with EASY CHARLIE, which may have been a contributing factor.  Both Jockey Pires and Jockey Cameron were advised that they must refrain from shifting ground, which results in contact with other runners.

COOL INFLATION (S Maskiell) was held up for a run approaching the home turn.

A post-race veterinary inspection of EASY CHARLIE (Trainer Tommy Young) revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg.  The Club’s veterinary surgeon also reported that EASY CHARLIE had a suspected pelvic injury.  Trainer Tommy Young was advised that he must tender a veterinary certificate before EASY CHARLIE’s next race start.

RACE 3 – GOODVIEW 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1100 METRES

BELLE DA MOUR (D Oakford) bucked on the way to the barriers, dislodging Jockey Daniel Oakford.  The filly was subsequently scratched at 1.32 pm by order of Stewards.  Trainer Charles Pirotta was advised that BELLE DA MOUR must trial to Stewards’ satisfaction prior to racing.  Prior to the announcement of correct weight, Stewards ordered all monies invested on BELLE DA MOUR to be refunded in full.  All bets made prior to 1.32 pm to be paid less sixteen cents in the dollar on the face value of the win ticket and fourteen cents in the dollar on the value of the place ticket.

FAIRY NICE (S Hamer A) laid in in the home straight.

RACE 5 –  ANDREW WRIGHT AUCTIONEERS & VALUERS HANDICAP – 2400 METRES

IRISH GREY (B McCoull) was fractious in the barriers and as a result missed the start fractionally.

SWEETWATER RIVER (K Boxall (a)) laid in over the concluding stages.  As a result Apprentice Boxall had to stop riding and straighten her mount.

A post-race veterinary inspection of IRISH GREY (Trainer Royston Carr) revealed the gelding to have blood in its mouth.

Near the 600 metres, STORMIN’ FEVER (K Dodge) was hampered when DJUAN (J Cameron) rolled out marginally.

RACE 8 –  TOTE TASMANIA CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1100 METRES

The announcement of correct weight was delayed when the incorrect numbers were semaphored.

As the start was affected, BACK AT TWO (C Kingston) jumped in and MILITIA (D Pires) jumped out, resulting in STARSQUI (D Oakford) being hampered and losing its position.

PAINTED RHIARI (K Boxall (a)) and OUR BOY GEORGE (S Hamer (a)) were slow into stride.
