Stewards questioned Jockey McFerran regarding FAIRLANDS MAGIC’s performance. She explained that when the pace quickened at about the 800m this filly was unable to keep in touch with the rest of the field despite her efforts to encourage it to go forward, and thereafter the filly continually lost ground on the field, and as a result she only rode it hands and heels for the remainder of the event. It was her opinion that the filly may not be suited to today’s heavy track conditions. Her explanation was noted.

DAZZLING VINTAGE (B McCoull) cast a near fore shoe in running.

Approaching the 500m mark STIHLMACK (K Dodge) shifted out marginally and in turn SAVONNEUX (S Quilty) who was following switched out to avoid this horse’s heels and in doing so inconvenienced HAZELHURST (D Sparks) who had to be checked by its rider and switched in, and in doing so HAZELHURST carried RUSTIC CASTLE (K Moore) inwards. In all the circumstances Stewards took no direct action other than to remind Jockey McAllister of his obligations when shifting ground.
