SANDANONA (Kane Bandy) was slow into stride and thereafter failed to muster early speed.

TAL MISS (David Pires (a)) laid out over the concluding stages of the event and shifted wider up the track. As a result apprentice Pires had to stop riding and straighten his mount on two occasions.

A swab sample was taken from the winner of the race DANDERA (Trainer John Blacker).

RACE 2 -BUNDY & COLA MAIDEN PLATE - 1175 METRES - 14 RUNNERS

The racebook showed the incorrect colours for LADONI’S KINGDOM, the correct colours being Red, Purple Diamond, Orange sleeves and cap. A public announcement was made to this effect

Jockey Leah Goodrick was dislodged from MAMBO TWIST at the barriers.

LORD LAMONT (Will Stacey (a)) was slow away at the start.

As the start was effected WICKED VICE (Dianne Parish) jumped out at the same time as LIBIANNE (Shane Gates) jumped inwards, resulting in these two horses making contact.

AMELINDA (Troy Atkin) jumped awkwardly at the start.

Rounding the home turn shortly prior to straightening MAMBO TWIST (Leah Goodrick) was held up for a clear run behind ON PROBATION (Rebecca Hanby (a)) for a number of strides.

LINE DANCING (Kelvin Sanderson) laid in under pressure approaching the 100 metre mark and as a result jockey Sanderson had to stop riding and straighten his mount.

Stewards questioned jockey Diane Parish, the rider of WICKED VICE, regarding her riding over the concluding stages. Jockey Parish stated that this horse had a tendency to lay in and as a result she had dropped her off side rein at approximately the 100 metre mark. Thereafter, in her opinion, the horse continued to lay in. Stewards, after considering the evidence and notwithstanding the fact the horse had a tendency to lay in and raced greenly in the straight, reprimanded jockey Parish for failing to ride her horse out to the end of the race (AR137(b)). She was advised to ride her mounts to the line unless there is some factor preventing her from doing so.

A veterinary inspection of MAMBO TWIST revealed the gelding had blood in its mouth as the result of a minor bleed from a cut tongue.

A post-race veterinary examination of DOUGY (Ruth Bradley (a)) revealed no obvious abnormalities.

A swab sample was taken from the second placegetter LORD LAMONT (Trainer Maxine Fraser).

RACE 3 - BUNDABERG RUM EASTER CUP HANDICAP - 1175 METRES - 5 RUNNERS

LOVE ME BACK (Stan Tsaikos) was slow away at the start.

Jockey Tsaikos, the rider of LOVE ME BACK, was fined $25 (AR144) for failing to weigh in immediately after the event after being placed fifth by the Judge.

RACE 4 - THE GENUINE ARTICLE CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1380 METRES - 9 RUNNERS

ALLEY CHAT (David Pires (a)) and TAMAR MIST (Stan Tsaikos) were slow into stride.

Approaching the 1000 metre mark BEAN STALKER (Simon Snell) shifted to the outside of BLUES MADAM (NZ) (Jodi Borrett) and in doing so slightly inconvenienced JACARANDA PARK (Terry Wong (a)) to its outside.

A post-race veterinary examination of TAMAR MIST (Stan Tsaikos) revealed the gelding had slight abrasions at its off withers and no other abnormalities.

A swab sample was taken from the winner of the event, PARIS RHYME (Trainer Terry Roles).

RACE 5 - THE ALEXANDER HOTEL CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 1600 METRES - 14 RUNNERS

The announcement of correct weight was delayed when Apprentice R Bradley, the rider of FAMILIAR TYCOON, the second placed runner, lodged a protest against the winner, ZARINA BOY, (B McCoull) on the grounds of interference over the concluding stages of the event. After hearing all the evidence the protest was dismissed and correct weight was announced at 3.49 p.m. It was established that ZARINA BOY shifted in under pressure at about the 100 metre mark and in doing so brushed with FAMILIAR TYCOON to his inside, who became momentarily unbalanced. Jockey McCoull, the rider of ZARINA BOY, immediately put both hands on the reins and straightened his mount. Thereafter both riders continued to ride their horses to the finish. Stewards reprimanded jockey McCoull for careless riding (AR137(a)), for allowing his horse to shift ground in the straight. He was advised to ensure in future that he makes an attempt to straighten his mount far sooner than he did on this occasion.

Approaching the 1100 metre mark MISS TIFFANY (David Pires (a)) shifted out slightly and in doing so carried LUCKY DALE (Dianne Parish) a little wider up the track.

Approaching the 600 metre mark LOTTA FUN (NZ) (Will Stacy (a)) compounded and started to drop back in the field. As a result PHILANTHROP (Kane Bandy), who was following, had to be steadied by its rider and shifted outwards to obtain a clear run. In doing so PHILANTRHOP brushed with PINTERRYON (Rebecca Hanby (a)) to its outside and at the same time BOMBAY BOY (Jodi Borrett), who was racing to the outside of PINTERRYON, had to be steadied off the heels of SPRINGHILL LASS (Stan Tsaikos). Apprentice Stacy (LOTTA FUN (NZ) was reprimanded for the manner in which he used his whip. It was the stewards’ opinion that this horse was showing no response to the whip. Apprentice Stacy was advised, in the strongest terms, that should he use his whip in the future in a similar manner, much stronger action may be taken.

Apprentice R Bradley (FAMILIAR TYCOON) accidentally dropped her whip at about the 200 metre mark.

RACE 6 - BUNDY GOLD MAIDEN PLATE - 1600 METRES - 11 RUNNERS

SHOEYOCHA (Simon Snell) proved fractious after being loaded in the barrier gates, reared as the gates were released and as a consequence was slow away.

Jockey Simon Snell (SHOEYOCHA) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding (AR137(a)), the terms of the charge being that whilst riding SHOEYOCHA, approaching the 1400 metre mark, he allowed his mount to shift ground inwards when insuffiently clear of BLACK HARMONY (Terry Wong (a)) to his inside, which resulted in BLACK HARMONY becoming crowded for galloping room between this filly and the inside running rail and thereafter further resulting in SHOEYOCHA making contact with BLACK HARMONY, which ultimately resulted in apprentice Wong having to severely check his mount. Jockey Snell was suspended from riding in races for a period equivalent to three Tasmanian race dates, effective midnight Monday 21 April 2003 and to expire midnight Sunday 4 May 2003. Jockey Snell has the right of appeal. In coming to a decision on penalty stewards exercised the discretion afforded under LR5(q) to defer the commencement of the suspension for a period of two days.

Jockey Kane Bandy (LANGKAWI) reported at scale that shortly after the start this horse threw its head back and knocked him in the face.

A post-race veterinary examination of TAL QORIMI (Leah Goodrick) revealed no obvious abnormalities.

A swab sample was taken from the winner of the event LANGKAWI (Trainer John Blacker).

RACE 7 - DARK & STORMY CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1800 METRES - 6 RUNNERS

The race book failed to show Apprentice Rebecca Hanby as the rider of WELLOUIE. A public announcement was made to this effect.

A post-race veterinary inspection of WELLOUIE (Rebecca Hanby (a)) failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
