RACE 1 – CHARLIE LYNCH MEMORIAL TWO YEARS OLD CLASS A HANDICAP – 1000 METRES

The start of this race was delayed, as the Chairman could not contact the Starter by radio.

MONEY IN MUD (L Taylor) hung out coming to the 300-metre mark and inconvenienced TRAVEL POINT (P Sarlo) who was on his outside.

TORQUE RHYTHM (C Dean) shifted up the track at the home turn and along the home straight.

RACE 3 – ERN WILLIAMS MEMORIAL MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1400 METRES

The start of this race was delayed due to the bad barrier manners of LUCIBEAR and TARREALEA. The trainers have been reminded of their obligation for their horse’s barrier manners.

A late rider notification for FLAMIN’ EMBERS was Leigh Taylor. Steward J Clemons will speak to Trainer Janine Jones regarding the late engagement.

PORKY PIE (A Jones (a)) jumped outwards contacting ST DONALD (D Sparks) at the start. PORKY PIE then shifted inwards contacting LUCIBEAR (S Brazil) who was slow away.

TARREALEA (P McLean) also jumped outwards onto MR MANUKA (C Dean).

At approximately the 900-metre mark LUCIBEAR (S Brazil) had to check her horse when SIR DONALD (David Sparks) shifted outwards. A reprimand was issued to Mr. Sparks who was reminded of his obligation to keep his horses straight.

Racing down the home straight TARREALEA (P McLean) hung in under pressure and shifted ground towards the rails.

A post race veterinary examination of JIMISPICKS revealed no abnormalities.

RACE 5 – R & J CONTRACTING CLASS D HANDICAP – 1800 METRES

RUSSIAN STYLE (A Jones (a)) jumped in the air as the gates opened.

On jumping RUSSIAN STYLE (A Jones (a)) contacted ZARDONI (T Atkin) on the hindquarters.

During the running of the race the saddle of jockey Colin Dean (ISLAND QUEST) broke at the point of connection with his stirrup iron. Mr. Dean rode the horse out to the finish without his feet in the irons. The saddle was checked and found to be in good condition.

RACE 6 – VIC HILL MEMORIAL CLASS D HANDICAP – 1000 METRES

BRILLIANT DESIRE was a late scratching at 12.10 pm when Trainer Mr. Kevin Simpson could not obtain a suitable rider.

PINCHS CHOICE who was to be ridden by Nicole Cook was replaced by Kylie Williams when Jockey Cook could not make the weight. Miss Cook was not on track but will be spoken to later.

KINGSTON MACAYLA (P Sarlo) was slow out and raced wide at the home turn.

PINCHS CHOICE (K Williams) lost ground around about the 800 metres when this horse raced wide on the track.

COMIC CONNECTION (D Sparks) raced erratically up the home straight.

NEAT LINES (T Atkin) raced wide from the home turn.

A blood swab sample was taken from the winner GREY CHICK.

RACE 7 – TOM WILTSHIRE MEMORIAL CLASS D HANDICAP – 1400 METRES

SWIFTS CREEK was ridden by David Sparks and SUNSTAR was ridden by Kylie Williams.

SUNSTAR (K Williams) was slow out and had no early pace.

BEARDSWORTH (P McLean) showed no early speed.

SOUTH ROAD (C Dean) made the turn bad from the 400-metre mark, which was reported by the rider.

SUNSTAR (K Williams) ran off the track at the home turn and raced on the outside fence along the home straight.

GENERAL

Stewards spoke to the Secretary of the race club about the amount of topsoil on the home turn.

Stewards spoke to Bookmaker Mr. H Culph regarding betting slips to be given to the Chairman after the last race.
